My son is waiting anxiously to hear from U of MN on the planned callbacks for the 2011 program. We were told that the word would go out this week (2/14-2/18). Has anyone heard anything from the U of MN BFA Guthrie program?

Best of luck to your son! The callback weekend is a really great experience (except that it is so cold there in early March that you freeze your tushies off!) and I hope your son gets the chance to experience it. Keep us posted.

Yesterday, a member named emkolb posted that she had just been called with the offer of the callback to MN/Guthrie.

Ken Washington or a rep usually goes through the list and phones everyone.

Thanks for the input, sounds like the calls are going out. Here is to hearing the phone ring with a MN area code in the next day or so!!

Amen to that!

Son just got an email response from his inquiry this afternoon. All the call-back invite calls have been made. Oh well, on to waiting for his other responses.

My best wishes to your son - my D wasn’t called either. Yes, on to the next!

Thanks EmmyBet, he took it pretty well despite U of MN being his number one choice. I think it helps that Evansville came out of nowhere this past weekend and has indicated they are putting together an offer for their BFA program. Best wises to your D. It’s all good.

geektheatre, Evansville has a fantastic performance program! That’s exciting!

Here’s a great one. My son came home from last night, and noted on the caller ID that University of Minnesota had called. No message left. Called the number back this am. Was informed that a “student outreach” from the admissions department had called him last night to see if he had any questions (has been accepted to the BA program). The admission person that he talked to very nicely made a few phone calls to tell him that “No, no one from the theatre department called you on the day that they called most of the callbacks.”

ARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Ugh, that stinks and the timing couldn’t have been worse. So sorry! But onward and upward. Minnesota isn’t the only game in town, right? ;)

DJC, I had an experience very similar to your son’s. Just a few days after my audition the University called me and began the conversation with “Hi Emily, I am calling to congratulate you on being invited to attend the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities” and then stopped there. It was heart-wrenching. And I nearly told them they were absolutely not allowed to call me for two weeks. I am blessed to be able to say that it wasn’t too terrible because I was eventually offered an invitation to attend the callback weekend, but it must have been the shortest emotional roller coaster I’ve ever experienced…

Good luck to your son, I sure can sympathize with him. Such tricks are not helpful to the emotionally exhausting experience of auditioning/searching for schools…
