2012 Andover and Exeter

I choose… Andover! It wasn’t an easy choice, since they are both great, but I stayed overnight at Andover and Exeter and I thought Andover would be better for me. I can’t wait for September!

@WorriedOne1000
Yay!!! I’m so glad! I’ll be seeing you next fall!

Anybody know how far back Andover looks for grades? Is it 2 or 3 years?

@HarvardRox1199

I know for Exeter they want grades from 6,7, and the first term of 8 if they are available. I assume Andover is similar. My son did apply to both Andover and Exeter and his advisor sent all of those grades to both. I am unsure if it is required at Andover. Andover did also ask for a graded writing sample. So keep that in mind if you will apply there. The one that we sent was his final English paper from 7th grade since we did not have a major 8th grade paper by the time the application was due.

Andover is better than Exeter hands down. I got in to Andover and didn’t apply to Exeter but from what I’ve heard all of the students at Exeter seemed much more depressed than Andover’s. Also MA is way better than NH. Plus Andover is only half an hour from Boston. If you apply and get in both please go to Andover. I promise that you will not regret it or feel bad that you chose big blue over Exeter.

andover is only half hour, even on a bus…and train takes even less time. Just stating facts bro…

Its easy to make it to boston from andover in a half an hour, maybe 35-40 minutes in more serious traffic, but it all depends on what day and time. My mom/dad can make it to boston in 25 minutes or less in a Subaru outback/honda civic.
You are either a slow driver, or have no idea what you’re talking about.

It has been done, many times. One thing I would like to point out is that, I don’t mean anywhere in Boston, because it takes time to drive down city streets, but through the city on a highway. From my house to Zakim bridge is a 25-30 min drive.
And this argument is pointless, where did this start? Someone saying Boston was this close to Andover?

Thank you Andover 2016 and swim dude for backing me up

“Andover is better than Exeter hands down. I got in to Andover and didn’t apply to Exeter but from what I’ve heard all of the students at Exeter seemed much more depressed than Andover’s.
You can’t just claim that Andover is better than Exeter using statements like “I heard.” You never know if what you heard is true, those comments could have been easily biased, maybe even more than your statements. “Also Ma is way better than NH.” You didn’t have any points to back that up, just your own opinion. And it’s great that Andover is 30 minutes away from Boston, but Exeter has a train station 5 minutes walk from the campus that gets students to Boston, it may take longer but at least the choice is available. Also, at Exeter, the beach is closer than at Andover.

Cogent, were you not the one who incited the argument about closeness to Boston in the first place? No one said that being close to Boston makes a school better, you did.
And in my opinion, Andover and Exeter are EQUALS. They are both amazing schools that have lots of pros and a few cons. Neither is perfect. With these two schools it is about fit, which do you feel more comfortable at? I really hate discussions that consist of “statistic statistic statistic” “oh yea? statistic statistic statistic insulting comment about school” “3 insulting comments about school” et cetera et cetera.

I, as well as you, may disagree with that post, but there is no need to be mean about it. That was their opinion, and maybe they were sort of arrogant, but I responded to your comment about the driving distance, trying to set the record straight because you were also incorrect in your statement.

Guys calm down. I am just a MA fan because SPS is in NH, and I do not like SPS. Also I know way more about Andover than Exeter. Sorry that my statements were ignorant and biased, but there is no need to get into a 2 page argument about the fact that andover is about 30 minutes from Boston. But still Go Big Blue!

I think the Exeter raging, clawing lion mascot is very cool and noble. Andover’s mascot can’t compare. Thus, I would go to Exeter.

I dunno a giant random gorilla named Gunga is pretty prestige.

^^ I just can’t picture a gorilla on an escutcheon.

Now we’ve moved onto mascots! That has to be an improvement*

*note sarcasm

If only they lived in the same habitat.
