succubus85:Are you 100% sure about your intel?

@greenertea

I was told that subject tests are generally helpful to include if you come from a school that is not strong in science/research or if you did poorly in those subjects/did not take those courses.

And I was told that anything above 80% is okay to submit.

The only thing I have heard from MCB was an email sent Dec 8, that said:

“Your admission application to the Ph.D. program in Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California, Berkeley is complete and has been sent to the Admissions Committee for review. All applicants will receive an admission decision by the end of February. However, applicants eligible for an admission interview during one of our recruitment weekends (Feb. 5-7 or Feb. 26-28) will be contacted between January 6-31.”

While is it possible they would change their minds to notify earlier… they seemed to explicitly say no one would hear anything until Jan 6…

yeah thats the email i got tooo

@ greenertea

I heard similarly to mobio2012 that anything above 80% is good. I submitted a similar score to all of my schools (660 overall, subscores 79%/90%/96%)

@greenertea

I think mobio2012 hit the nail in the head. My PI (head of admissions committee the year before) actually discouraged me from taking the subject test because my institution is very reputable in research/sciences. Your score looks good though. 90% overall is good. Looks like you already have interview invites so not submitting your score didn’t seem to hurt you anyway.

Thanks all who responded. I only took the test to begin with because Scripps requires it. Now I guess I’m glad I did. Interestingly, I sent the scores to 6/9 schools, heard back for interviews from the other 3.

Yea I got the same e-mail from Berkeley MCB as well. Hopefully they didnt just send to those that they had already ruled out :-/!! But…that stringing along doesnt sound like UCB’s style…Guess we will find out by friday!

@greenertea

I’m sure the largest part of why you haven’t heard from the other 6 is that they probably haven’t sent out invites yet. You’ve been doing so well, I’m sure they’ll come!

I’m sure. I received the information from someone who is reviewing applications as part of the admissions committee. Unless there is some major screw up, invites to arrive before the holidays. Berkeley closes for the holidays from Dec 26 until Jan 2nd. That means invites by Friday. Good luck to all who applied there. I didn’t because I did my undergrad there. Academic incest is not for me.

Got an invite to UCSF PSPG today. And of course, their interview date is the same as Yale and Johns Hopkins smh
Haven’t heard from UCLA or UCSD yet.

@mobio2012 Thanks for the encouragement!

For those who applied to Mayo Clinic, any word from them yet?

Just got an Email from UCLA ACCESS asking me for skype interview on Dec 22nd.

^ dave you international?

Yes I am, how about you? Did you get the same interview invitation?

im domestic, i applied to ACCESS, i really don’t like skyping, atleast the video part.

you got some crazy good stats. congrats on your interview.

@pumiliod+davexuke:

I got the skype interview from ACCESS as well, just wondering, do they require you to have webcam?

I dont know why they want me to do the skype interview…i am international but also currently studying in UC Berkeley…

I guess they are just poor and dont have that much money to invite people to do on campus interviews : (

@Forivy

Maybe they assumed that you don’t live in the US. Contact them?
