Has anyone heard from any of the NIH programs, specifically OxCam? only one post of grad cafe about nih-brown… thanks!

Just got an interview email from JHU neuro 2 minutes ago!

@stemcellneuro-- also waiting on OxCam. I think they send out at the end of January. App was due Jan 3rd, which was only 7 business days ago.

Congrats on the interviews, everyone.
I got rejected from UCSF Tetrad (top choice) but got email invites from UMass (Feb 2-4), Columbia (Jan 27-29), U Chicago (Mar 1-3), Duke and UNC.

Did anyone else apply to UW, Seattle BPSD or UT Southwestern? They’re top of my list too but my weekends are getting filled up already :(.

(I just found this thread last week. 1st post)

@langerhans and bigbang

I wouldn’t feel too bad about being rejected from your undergraduate institution. My PI was the chair of our department until earlier this year, and I know he wouldn’t have accepted my application for our graduate program. There are two reasons for that: 1. The programs want a diversity of backgrounds so the new graduate students are likely to make unique contributions. 2. It’s really good for YOU to get out and experience something new and to learn how other departments/schools function. Staying around the same department for 10 years is not nearly as good for your growth as moving is.

So, the point of that is, they didn’t necessarily reject you because they don’t like you.

also going crazy, i’ve only heard back from UCSF BMS and it was a rejection. I’m still waiting on anything from 13 more schools! am i a goner?

@dietcokehead7, absolutely not! Most schools are still reviewing apps. I called a few schools a few days ago and many said by the end of the month is when we’ll here from them, and these schools had Dec 1 and Dec 15 deadlines.

@Persephone2012

I applied to UW BPSD, too! I hope they notify soon, but I doubt it because the application deadline was Jan. 1st.

@Persephone2012

I’ve heard from UW MCB (rejection) and UT Southwestern (interview Feb 9-11). If you haven’t heard from UW yet, I’m sure that’s good news, at least if you applied to MCB.

I just discovered this thread too. I’m starting to think that I should have applied to a few more schools, but can’t change it now…

I realized I never posted my stats and the schools I applied to. I’ve heard back from everywhere I applied at this point, so I thought it may be helpful (though I’m not seeing many questions about the schools I applied to).

I could not hold myself today and emailed all the programs about possibilities of still getting an interview invite.

NYU Sackler told me all invitations have been sent out by now…
Tufts said I am still being considered… Sloan Kettering is also still possible until the end of Jan.

That for so far…

@NeuroIm4
There were two posts earlier (one on Tuesday and another Today) stating not all invites had been sent out and they had reviewed 40%-60% of the applications (NYU Sackler). Perhaps the director meant the program you had applied too?

@guialera
I applied to the Open Program. He told me there were more than 1000 applicants for the 45 places they have. And actually for most programs at NYU Sackler (biomedical sciences speaking), you enroll in the Open Program first.

I;ve seen the other posts too, but this is what he sent me half an hour ago…

@NeuroIm4
Oh man. More than 1000 applicants? Well at least I can finally stop worrying about my application. Haha

Well all first years go into the open program. I’d imagine that if you specify a program that the faculty in that program will want to decide on who to interview. I wouldn’t lose all hope yet. Even the website says they won’t be all done reviewing until the end of February.

Just curious that is there anyone applied to the NYU biology program (not Sackler) and got any news so far?

how did nyu sackler go from 60% of applications reviewed to completely done in a day?

When I called today, the person who I spoke to checked my name specifically for NYU Sackler Immunology and Molecular Oncology and he said that my application was being reviewed by the committee He said by the end of the month all the interviews would be sent out.

Anybody going to the Berkeley PMB interview on 1/27?

There are 32 people on the list. If there are two weekends, that means they’re probably interviewing 50+ people. I’ve heard that about 10-15 get accepted for plant bio and 10-15 for micro, with a matriculating class of 7-10. Peterson’s gives a different stat, though.

Anybody know how many people they admit?

Well I don’t know either then… Maybe I should call also. I emailed with the Senior Associate Dean for Biomedical Science Programs though…
Maybe don’t give up the hope until you heard something or until the end of February… But for me, I guess I know it’s sadly enough a rejection.
