KE9016 Something like that.

@KE9016: no, I didn’t. It was a hard decision and had to do with funding and recruitment for my majors and minor. VT will get me a better job in the end, even if CMU is the “better” university to most. I called potential employers where I want to work, both department heads at each school, and looked deep into courses and what makes the majors at both schools. Plus I really did not like CMU at all, and they didn’t give me enough money to go there. Even though VT is out of state for 4 years, I already have half of it paid for in scholarships and am in honors there.

I’m glad there are other people up at 5:30 waiting for this hahaha. Unfortunately my life (acceptance) kind of sort of depends on passing the majority of these exams. Oh Calculus…I hope you liked me.

good luck everyone. will people post scores here or does someone want to make a new thread?

cfl/ you are seriously neglecting your school’s name value, which is ALWAYS the first thing that employers look for on your resume. there is a huge, huge discrepancy between CMU and VT when it comes to name value and prestige. plus, being in honors at VT is nowhere equivalent to studying at CMU. you should realize you just put yourself in a huge disadvantage.

the best job you can find at WS would be tax filer positions, as UIUC is not among WS employers’ target school list(google “wall street target schools”, or you can look at the table i’m attaching below for your connivence. if you really would like to work at WS, i would strongly suggest considering transfer.

Target: HPW
Commands almost as much respect, but self selection makes firms wary: YS+MIT (MAYBE sloan)
Respected: C
Not really respected, but recognized as a decent vocational school: Duke Dart
Only has presence because jews werent allowed at HYP sixty years ago: Ross, Stern
Don’t fool yourself: Brown, Cornell CAS

Have fun doing my taxes for $19.95: TOP TEN BUSINESS SCHOOLS!!! at state schools (UIUC, McComb)
Also, you deserve to be f**ked if you chose the following: any UG b-school not mentioned above.

Cfl927, I thought that poster was a jerk at first, but if you go look he goes (went?) to CMU, the objective part was a joke.

This is winky faces should be acceptable in written communication.

@littlekit, i go to one of HYPSMC… def not CMU.

Oh just kidding…That guy is actually just pompous. Oops.

@cfl927 VT has a beautiful campus! Your words make me think. A good college doesn’t define you. It is the things you experience, the people you meet and the dreams you keep define you.

@KE9016: Also, VT will get me into the grad program at either UMCP or Michigan that I need to get into in order to be the absolute strongest candidate for my job, since they have a co-op that is run by the government specifically for students wanting to go down my path and solely for recruitment.

Just glanced and saw you post under their thing. Also I have no idea what all of those letters mean.

I’m glad I live on the west coast it’s only 2:45 here. Can’t imagine staying up until 7!

I’m really worrying about physics c right now… I think I failed it lol

cfl927/ i find it a little bit saddening you are almost obsessed with getting recruited at such a early age. just enjoy what you are going to be studying and do your best – opportunities will eventually come along. all colleges have tons of recruiting seminars and alums/job center at your college will def help you get a decent job.

HPW - Harvard, Princeton, Wharton
YS - Yale, Stanford (note: sloan is MIT’s business school)
C - Columbia

and such and such.

@KE9016
Thanks, and I do consider transfer thing recently. I will take another SAT in October.

No kidding, VT has the best campus! My mom went there, which honest to God had nothing to do with my decision to go there. My whole family is back East (I’ve lived in TX for almost 19 years now…plain boring…yuck…and did I mention flat? lol). Then, I want to go into government work too.

Well, I am worried about being recruited because I’ve always wanted this job and have been so driven to get to my goal. Trust me, college will be full of fun (plus balance with school since I have to maintain at least a 3.5). I started worrying about college in the 7th grade, and although I chose VT, I was still accepted to some top schools. I will say that this economy is a driving force behind a lot of my decisions due the combo of tuition and jobs after graduation.

I genuinely don’t see the point in stressing out about failing right now. Same goes for worrying about colleges. Let’s just try to keep our heads up and wait out the next hour together

engineers are in constantly high demand, virtually regardless of soft economy. no need to worry about getting a job. office salarymen are the ones should be wary of bad economy.

Anyway…

Am I the only one surprised they haven’t opened the lines early? I know AP has consistently been saying 7, but I’m shocked they haven’t relented.
