UC’s like to see an even number of units taken per semester/quarter. They don’t want a student slamming all their GE’s into the last semester/quarter before transfer because their is no guarantee you will pass all and not drop them and then have to retake at the UC

what if you’re just taking just 1 class that’s 3 units? I completed 62 units last fall and taking one 3 unit class this spring. would it be considered ‘negative’ as well?

@Chelzmcnamara: I hope not because I only have 9 units this semester. I don’t think so. you’re TAG’d right? I think it’s garbage of them to not tell us if we are accepted considering that is the entire point of the TAG.

I think it’s dumb. But just feel confident. If you followed the guidelines, you shouldn’t worry

@ norcaltransfer77

yeah I’m TAGGED. I got accepted to UCR already so I guess it’s not that big of a deal? I had to stay an extra year because I couldn’t enroll in the classes I needed…I guess that’s what I gotta deal with for going to SMC. But I heard some people get accepted to berekely and what not when they skipped the whole Spring semester before they transferred so I guess as long as you got atleast 60 units in the bag you’re all good.

Yeah 25 units in one semester looks like your doing exactly that “rushing to get out of CC”. It gives them the impression that you didn’t plan for school very well.

The number of units you take and the courses are definitely evaluated. A person with a 3.5 who has 16 units but taking “tough courses” ie Physics, Calc 2 will be looked upon more favorably than someone with a 4.0 taking “slacker courses” ie.Yoga, Intro to Photography

My GPA was only a 3.5 after the TAU but my courses last semester were

Logic, Micro Econ, Stats, Managerial Accounting and Anthro.

@norcal77 true i can see why. however i AM tagged tho. shall i appeal then? I’m going to finish everything up this semester forsure. I also have U-Link for UCSD. I already completed all my hard ge’s besides calculus this semester

i am not the word of God. check out the appeals or hope for UCSD. did you apply to any safeties? I reached way, way, way, out of my league at a few schools, Brown, and Vanderbilt to name a few, the others I don’t think are such reaches, American, BU, NYU, and Brandeis. We shall see. Good luck to you. BTW, I am Tagged, 3.5, all classes done last semester and just on major pre req this semester. still pending decision…

^^Jenn, did you complete 30 transferable CC units before you applied for TAG? AP and none-CC courses do not count. You must of completed 30 units from a CC only prior to applying for TAG

I was admitted to UCSD for Economics but my UCSB decision is still pending…

whyyyyy I thought UCSB announced all admissions on a certain day. Do they need more time to review applicants?

How are bad gpa trends going to look? I had a pretty steady trend of mostly A’s/A-'s before last quarter, where my gpa dropped from 3.75 to 3.475(got a D, retaking it now). Is this going to lead to rejection?
