Thanks for that, bullet. It definitely is easy to get carried away. :)

but when it comes down to it... it's just fun being cadre isnt it ;]

well, frankly, i hope BCT is hard. like Hunter Grunden (former USAFA wing commander) once said, "the manner in which we train now will determine the future success or our Air Force and in turn the defense of our great nation". that statement is so true. if my cadre doesn't train my squad properly, then chances are the future cadre in my squad won't train its squad properly either, thus the vicious cycle goes on and on. i want to be trained correctly and without physical harm, yes, but i understand the purpose of BCT: to fail, learn to rely on my teammates, take orders, become part of something bigger than myself, follow directions, help others, act under stressfull conditions- basically the things i need to not only know but to understand, experience and embrace in order to become an honorable, true USAFA cadet and future upperclassmen.

i saw that, and it disappeared really quickly

my host also showed me the facebook group/discussion.. it's absolutely disheartening, outlandish, and abhorrent that people can be so ignorant as to what they're doing. if the people on facebook or the guys that wrote the banner were 2012 appointees, it's amazing to know that they're willing to screw over the rest of the entire class because they wanna show somebody up or glorify themselves for a minute. i firmly believe that there are a LOT of people who just dont get it, who just dont understand what they're getting into.. sucks to be on the receiving end of a consequence for some idiot you've never met.

dont get me wrong, i'm absolutely fine w/ poking fun at other classes and having a great time, but there's a time and a place for everything. i dont see how these people, the "best," can be so STUPID sometimes. but that's just me.

[/rant]

oh yea, the CC dinner was great :) nice to meet all of yall and see different folks throughout the day

I wouldnt be so sure that an appointee was the banner culprit, seems a bit too advanced for someone tht lacks the knowledge nor the guts to do such a thing... ;)

(I smirked and the 2009 dude at the head of our table didn't seem so thrilled, Petko knows... :))

Ha ha! I won't mention his name, but the man is a beast. Luckily for you all, he won't be working Basic this summer.

I also doubt that the banner was solely the work of appointees. I got a kick out of it, though! :D

some of the 4 and 3 digs at my table laughed at it as well :) haha they all said "i'm gonna show up just to watch them get off the bus"

I think just about every cadet I talked to asked if I was a facebook cadet and then proceeded to tell me what life would be like for them in Basic. I made sure to quickly deny any involvement. :)

Well I say if youre on tht dreaded list, not a whole lot you can do about it now, thts just today's day and age...
Either way, basic is gonna be knuts!!! <--(look it up its in there...)

No reason to fret, lets soak up these 2 months and hit the ground runnin in June when it gets here ehhh? ;)

Good advice kiddo. :) That's all you can do.

Man its weird seein yall post on here now that I can picture you guys from the dinners and the visit to USAFA... :)

Yeah, I'm disappointed that I couldn't make it to the dinner.

it was great! haha and yea airforce you hit it on the head :) i've seen enough of the afa for now

Hey this came from NewCadet.com --- it is obviously a WP cadet, but I thought you all might get a chuckle

realize that a lot of cadets already know about this site and are pretending to be from the class of 2012. We all know that you really just want to be part of my class (2012 the best class). Knock it off. We are just trying to meet our future brothers in arms. I have read Absolutly American 3 times. Im in JROTC so I already know what the military is like too. You upperclassmen dont scare me at all. Come on class of 2012...lets show them that we arnt afraid of nobody and be the best class ever!!!

I didn't realize JROTC prepared cadets for beast...not trying to egg anyone on, afterall this is an Army person and without a doubt they should be given kudos for camraderie (I mean that honestly)

Lol...JROTC is not a thing to brag about at an academy...which I'm sure they are about to find out...
...Uh oh...they read the book! I guess WP's secrets are out!

The class pride stuff is typical, and not a negative, IMO. Class pride is good.

I think that him reading that book for the 3rd time is what will help him "beat BCT" ;)

Eh, you never know.
I never read any of the books, but my ALO gave me a lot of (mostly) relevant advice.

I'm one of the footprints cadre this year...and I have the names of those facebook kids. If you aren't one of them, you're "safe"!

Yeah but what about the kid that comes in wearing AF pt gear?
