Either AMCAS needs to work overtime and weekends or the SOM need to bypass it.

jc40 - Congrats to your D on her interview!

yup, like plumazul said, everyone gets it!

and jc40, I’m in the same boat. I’ve got 3 secondaries (submitted one already), but still not verified. I’m hoping by Thanksgiving I’ll be complete :P

JC40, how did you know you many transcripts AMCAS are going through each day? Do they tell you, or did they tell you went you called?

That’s my theory too TatinG. I think SOMs will start bypassing the AMCAS and ask students to submit some basic info when they send in their secondaries.

^ They are getting really annoyed by all the anxious applicants calling in and understandably so. Callers are often reminded that they signed an agreement accepting that it would take up to 6 weeks for verification. The 200 number came from folks at that other site putting 2 and 2 together, using the limited information AMCAS tweeted as to how the verification is going this year.

And, neither is going to happen. :)

I saw that thread. I still wondered, even then, how posters figured 178 or 200 applications per day. I mean, it’s scary that students have not been verified, but I don’t think this trend is really far from last year’s data.

Last year, the application opened for submission on June 5th and by the first day of transmitting the applications (June 28th), they completed verifying all applications submitted up until June 13. This year, they struggled to verify applications submitted on the first day. By the calculations of the folks at that other site, in the years past, around 400 applications were verified on each working day.

As I posted earlier, I received 5 secondaries before being verified. I think many schools already start building files and potentially evaluating applicants before verification but they can never get rid of that step because otherwise the risk of false reported transcripts becomes too high.

^ My son got 4 secondary apps so far. He submitted his app on June 14 and expects to be verified towards the end of next week.

^^ Or not. D2 submitted June 10, her transcripts were ‘officially’ received June 12–and she’s still “awaiting review”.

^ Since it is the date her transcript is received that counts, she will be verified along with the applications received on June 12. The first application from June 12 got verified at 2:38 PM on Friday, according to the people maintaining the timeline.

kal123, I am hoping you are right. DD submitted on 6/10 but her transcript wasnt received until 6/12. Praying this week she is verified.

Are II’s offered after secondaries, verification or both?

And yes, I have gleaned that II’s aren’t sent out to everyone

I don’t know of any school extending interview invitations without an AMCAS verified application, MCAT score, a completed secondary application and some initial screening. I have heard of stories that some schools offered interview invitations before receiving letters of recommendation, however.

Texas process outside of AMCAS for schools other than Baylor and MD/PhD at Southwestern (don’t know if there are others) has started IIs.

UChicago sent out the fist interview invitations last week.

^ I thought they just took people’s money and didn’t call anyone. :D

I have applied via AMCAS to UTHSCSA. There are probably others.

I don’t think any MD/PhD goes through TMSDAS but don’t quote me on that

BTW, I visited UTHSCSA this summer, even had a mini “interview” :). A very impressive program and the students and staff were wonderful. IMO, this program will be an MSTP soon.
