2013-2014 Applicants and their parents.....

MiamiDAP gave us a mathematical doctor formula on another thread.

We need to refer to people as Dr.(-20%) XXXXX until someone starts medical school.

When they start medical school they are Dr. (0%) XXXX and after first year, Dr. (25%) and so on.

So the earliest acceptances come out on Oct 15th?

^ Yup, October 15th is the date. The school that I interviewed at this past week will meet the Friday before, and they said that they might do phone calls on the 15th. Fingers crossed.

F

texaspg, katwkittens and mrpenguin,

Thanks!

Piggle,

My son has two MMIs next month (NYU & Rutgers RWJ).

TatinG,

The randomness of the process stood out for me too. So far, my son has 9 interviews, 1 pre-interview hold, 0 rejections and no news from 17 others. From here on, if it’s not Mayo, CCLCM or a top 10 school he will have to think hard before accepting an invite.

I wonder if interview invitations are coming slower this year because of the slower than usual verification process and the delayed start date.

Or maybe it’s just my impatience.

I hated the crickets. Y’all hang in there.

Kal
I also have NYU next month - I tried to do schedule all my NY interviews together , but did not work out.
I finished CCLM and Cornell last week and going to Mayo next week.
Cornell interview was very relaxed.

MMI -not sure there is a right or wrong answer for those questions. Challenging questions , but enjoyable as well.

Did your son apply to Duke, Emory ,etc?

@Piggle, I’m making 4 separate trips to NYC. :frowning: There was no other way!

@kal123, is your son taking the train? Bus? Penn station is so convenient to NYU.

Plum- I am doing three. If I get any more from NY I am going to turn it down. my flights cost 250-300 at least each time. My flight got cancelled last week after Cornell interview and I had to( rather my dad ) pay another 300 for a room .

My whole interview expense ( funded by parents ) ~ 10,000 so far.

“My whole interview expense ( funded by parents ) ~ 10,000 so far.”

That’s it. I am telling D to forget about medicine.

Yes, ours is up to about $7,000 so far for application fees, clothes, airfares, Supershuttles, etc.

Texaspg, we are paying for our eventual ‘concierge’ service up front. The doctor’s mother will always get a prompt appointment and special handling. :)

Piggle. lol. You sound a bit like a kid I know. ;)

Crum-I am from Texas !!

My dad wants a lamborghini in return !!

@texaspg, there must be a better way to do this, right? :)

I guess they’ve never heard of Skype for the interviews, which could be followed by visits after acceptances for applicants choosing between two or more schools.

What shocks me is that the bills have reached 7 and 10k and they are no where close to being done yet.

Plum - are they paying for your trips?

@texaspg, each one is a little different but most travel (including local transportation) hotels and meals are covered. The restaurants have been top notch :)

@Piggle

Your dad is letting you off easy. I’m holding out for a new house!

If the man did some research, he would hold out for this…
