DS has been accepted!..sweet news to wake up to !

This thread sure will be lighting up in the weeks and months ahead by these applicants.

Congrats piggle and learninginprog to your son!!!

Congrats Piggle and learningfrog’s son!!

Onto looking for money!

Congratulations to Piggle and learninginprog’s S!

Looks like happy new for several students today.

Do we have anymore regular MD students here?

Got two offers. Now looking for the $$$

Congrats to all accepted.
In D’s year it was Oct. 16. She did not sleep. She got call from Dean of admission at around 1am and email came from another Med. School right after 2am. She kept coming to my bedroom with her lap top, she was so excited! She is currently at the Med. School that accepted her right after 2am on Oct. 16. And the first one was a great surprize since she had an interview there literally couple - three days before acceptance.
I bet we will hear more good news tomorrow.
Also, sometime acceptance triggers more interviews. It has happened to my D. Then confusion sets in, which one to attend.

Congrats to all that have offers in hand! It must be such a big relief. For those of you who chose not to do a gap year, how in the world are you handling your coursework and the interview trail? It seems some tried to schedule open days on Monday & Friday for interviews. I’m assuming you also tried to take a lighter load this semester. Are there any other strategies that helped you balance what appears to be a wild ride?

^ I planned for this semester for some time. Strategies include:

I only needed two more classes to graduate and only taking one of those this semester

taking one class P/F and another S/U. Only the one class I’m taking for my major and research are reg. grading. This takes much of the pressure off.

3 semester hours of research (I have the key to the lab and can work when I find the time)

I study/work/write on airplanes/trains/automobiles/and taxis. (have a ChromeBook with an 8hr. batt. life that goes everywhere with me. So much better than my laptop or pad)

^Yes, it is smart to planfor ligher workload (no more than 16 hrs) in senior year. This was the year, when D. started having real weekends (good thing for a short time before you plunge into no weekend situation for 4 years). Most people were understanding, few were not. But she also had a job with great responsibilities, Med. Research internship and one of her Med. Schools added to requirements. So, mostly because of the last one, D. had to drop one of her minors being only 2 classes short of completion. This minor (neuroscience) was pretty much redundant though, there is nothing they can teach in UG that is anywhere near the academic level of Med. School and more so in neuro block.

Congrats to Pinkstfz, Puggle and Learninginprog’s son!

Amid the euphoria of the recent flurry of interview invites, my son woke up to a deferral from Ohio State. This process is so humbling! He was hoping for a quick acceptance from OSU, so that he get his interview list under control. He has heavy load of classes and could have gotten some relief by pruning his interview list. He is interviewing at UMD tomorrow. Hoping for some better news soon.

I have a question about deferred decisions. How optimal are the outcomes with this status ?

Thanks on DS’s behalf all!.

Kal-
This is just a bump in the road for your son, better news is definitely on the way.
Remember when you first mentioned how II’s were silent for him? Then the flood gates opened. The same will happen with the acceptances. Sending good vibes.

OSU reviews the deferred applications once every 2 weeks along with others. Last year several got accepted in the very next review. Eventually the remainder of the deferred list becomes the wait-list.

Ditto. I’m sure you guys are very excited to see all of the work and effort parlaying into acceptances!

Kal, welcome back stateside! I’m sorry to hear about the deferral, but I have no doubt good news is coming your way. Your S probably won’t even have to wait too long.

Kal
First I have to say you are a very involved father.
I saw from your earlier posts that your S has lots of great interviews coming.I am positive that he will have great outcome from one of those places

Vandy may be coming out soon. After my interview I got the feel that they love Engineering grads.I am sure that he will be getting good news.

Limabeans, you can thaw the leftovers of the cake!

Wow…congrats to all with good news!!!
