The Department of Theatre at CCU is pleased to announce our audition dates for our BFA programs for the 2013-2014 academic year. The dates as well as the new audition form, audition requirements, and pre-screen information will be posted very soon on the new website. As soon as that information is available and the new website has launched, I will also share that here! For now, here are the dates:

Feb. 3-5 (Chicago Unifieds - do not require a pre-screen video)

As always, the on-campus auditions are all day events, including the initial presentation of your “package” in the morning, a student panel, and campus tour specifically for theatre majors. Following this early session, we provide a catered lunch and the afternoon includes 3 workshops with our current faculty, the dance call, and at night you receive complimentary tickets to one of our mainstage shows. If you attend November 16, you can see the closing night performance of “A Chorus Line”. February 8th’s auditionees will see “Into the Woods”, and the February 22nd/March 1st groups will see “Crimes of the Heart”.

I hope to meet many CC’ers in person at our on-campus auditions this year! It’s my last year as the “Student Recruitment Coordinator” and I know it’s just going to be the best yet. :)

Wonderful! If you are interested in sitting in on some classes/perhaps seeing a rehearsal or performance and haven’t emailed with anyone yet, send me a private message! I can definitely direct you towards our admin who can set up a day for you all. :)

Our plans changed and we aren’t able to visit. After completing all of the other apps and pre-screens and what not, we will gauge how things are progressing and decide if we can fit in another school app and/or visit later on (we live in NJ so it’s a long drive).

She already has about 12 on her list so cutting Coastal does help narrow the field. We will see.

Hi!
Just want to confirm that I’m understanding the info on the website. If D wants to audition in Chicago, she is not required to submit a prescreen, but it is preferred that she do so. Right? What is the deadline for the prescreen? Should we wait to apply to the university until after the results of the prescreen or before submitting prescreen?
She is very interested in CCU’s program so I want to make sure I get it right!
Thanks!

Merlehay - I’ll let those more in the know answer about prescreens and auditions, but just put in a note about admissions and scholarships. If your D is in line for an academic scholarship, the priority deadline is January 1.

There is no exact steps for our process. What I would recommend would be, even though you are planning on going to Chicago, go ahead and submit your prescreen video. You are correct that we do not REQUIRE one for Chicago, but if you are making one for other schools, there is absolutely no harm and it will actually help you in the end. If you are then passed on, you can submit your audition request for a Chicago audition slot and THEN you apply for the university. No use in paying more fees than you have to and taking the time if you don’t need to.

If you have any other questions, do not hesitate to message me privately! Glad to hear you are looking at CCU

Posting to inform everyone that we are completely booked for our February 22nd on campus audition. There are still a few limited slots left for February 8th if one was to get a pre-screen in quickly and make a note on their submission they are looking to attend February 8th. March 1st still has plenty of slots, but tends to end up being our busiest day.

In addition, we are almost full for the Chicago Unifieds, and there is a good chance we won’t take walk-ins this year. Getting in contact about snagging a spot while they are still available is preferred, although times are obviously limited!

We are finishing up the final round of notifications tomorrow. If you don’t hear anything over the weekend call the department of theatre or email Ken: kmartin@coastal.edu

No’s have been going out via letter and ocassionally email if we don’t have a snail mail address on file
Priority Waitlists and Acceptances have been going out via email from Ken
