Just thought I would post the following since no matching posts have been put up here on CC or on the gradcafe results page.

To date, there have been 4 gradcafe members who have received MIT BSC invites before the end of 2012; AK1921, HS2013, Nibblingsushi, Gliaguy.

As of overnight, two member have reported Yale Neuro invites; Gliaguy and AK1921. In the details mentioned by AK1921, the committee met yesterday and approximately 20 are being invited with 3 internationals from outside the US being flown in. AK stated invite was by phone. From the results page, in the past, calls have been over a very narrow window of time.

edukimi, by BSC do you mean Brain and Cognitive Science?

Also, I emailed MIT Biology admissions in mid-December about their timeline for interview responses and they said that the adcom meets on January 3 and 4. They will send out interview offers via email to approximately 100 students by Monday, 7 January.

Good luck everyone! I’m going to try to stay busy to avoid freaking out for the next couple of days.

Does anyone know approximate acceptance rate post-interview for Mount Sinai Graduate program if they are interviewing 100 people? (Not the final matriculation rate)

edukimi: I think they prob accept 20 students after the interview. Most of the big programs accept 15-20 students per years. Some program only accepts 5-6 students/year.

@MicroB2012- that may not be true of all programs though- from what I’ve read, Harvard BBS is a large program (much larger than Harvard Neuroscience which has about 20 a year), so maybe MIT bio is like them and is also large?

Interesting, but anxiety-inducing news Errbie3 lol, thanks for the update though! I’ve heard MIT accepts around 67% post-interview. Their entering class is around 35 (says their website).

Just confirmed with UCSF Tetrad and UCB MCB. Will be visiting both programs the first weekend of February (Jan 31-Feb 5), if anyone else is going to be there, let me know!

Re: MIT: If Bio interviews 100-120 and accepts 35, I’m assuming they’ll accept around 45-50. Is that a safe assumption?

What program are you interested in at NYU? Just curious because my interview is not until March, but I am interested in the microbiology program.

MicroB2012: I seriously considered telephoning them today, but one of my lab-mates told me that there was a definite hysterical edge to my voice today, so I refrained. Silence is a good thing. For now, at least.
