2013 Bioscience Admission and Interviews

@diamedic17, I’m also waiting for Penn CAMB. I hope you’ll hear something soon. I know that Einstein filled up their first interview weekend, so maybe they’ll send out more requests for the second? Good luck!

When I heard from Penn CAMB on Jan 2nd, I got scheduled for the last interview weekend (Feb28th), so I’m not sure if that gives any indication of how many more invites they’re sending out.

@nuhtowel, Thanks for the information. I had anticipated as much.

Thanks, dapi! I’ll PM you a couple questions I have in a bit once I get to work and get settled :).

@bespoke & @nuhtowel: thanks for the information. Penn was my top choice but I’m not going to get my hopes up for them and if I’m offered something at one of my other choices before hand I’m just going to take that then. This whole waiting thing is really taking a lot out of me, I really wish they’d just tell me NO if that’s what it is.

I feel your pain, at this point I just want to know one way or the other. I have more important things to do than constantly stress out about hearing back.

I called Duke, you guys. For immunology, the gentleman with whom I spoke said to wait till early February.

I didn’t apply to Duke immunology but the thought of having to wait until early February is just craaaaazyyyyyy… O_O

I feel your pain too. I would whether know one way or the other.

Thanks for the update on Duke immuno. Did anyone apply to their molecular cancer biology program? I’m just trying to see if anyone has heard anything.

My bf applied last year and didn’t hear from Duke immuno until late January, from Harvard BBS until around the 15th of January, and from Cornell until Feb1. He also didn’t hear from Rockefeller until late Feb and they didn’t do interviews, just a straight acceptance.

And for those sad about PENN, he got into both harvard and yale and didn’t get an interview at Penn.

Hope some of that information helps.

Good luck to all!

All I’m saying is that the only Valentine I’d like this year would be from Duke Immunology! ;)

does anyone know when stanford neuro will send out invites this year? and i guess harvard bbs will be next week then?

@Erbbie3: My Harvard MCB (1/30-2/2) interview conflicts with UCSD (1/31-2/1), which I already replied yes just two days ago and booked the flights to San Diego… Were you changing your Harvard interview or Berkeley to the second week?? I wonder if it makes any difference between visiting during the first recruitment week and the second?? Do you have any idea???

CSHL interview! They scheduled it for Jan 30-Feb 3. That’s already two programs I’ve had to ask to reschedule because of a conflict with the UCSF/UCBerkeley interview weekend.

Woo, first official rejection (from Berkeley MCB)! Still undecided about whether only applying to the five schools I sent my GRE for free after the test was a bad idea. It does make the interview/acceptance/rejection roller coaster so much more exhilarating.

Also, I feel like if Harvard likes someone enough to schedule them for the first interview (assuming that there’s even a difference between the two), then it shouldn’t matter if you need to reschedule. It also doesn’t hurt that San Diego is perpetually 60-75F with fabulous weather

Rejection from Berkeley

San Diego does rock! I ate lunch outside in a t-shirt! I’m trying to stay in the area. Hope that doesn’t hinder me. Lucky there are a few great programs down here!

rejection from Berkeley. I sort of expected this since I couldn’t fill the minimum number of faculty of my interest within the department. this shouldn’t be a relief, but at least I’m starting to hear from schools.

I also got the UCB rejection

also got Yale rejection. I feel so heartbroken. next couple of months will be like hell with more rejections to come…

@chicken What program from Yale?
