That sucks. I haven’t heard from Northwestern IBiS either. I’m assuming a rejection from them at this point. :(

Thanks for the solidarity, I’m happy you got a least one invite so far! XD Here’s hoping we both get UIC invites! (don’t think we’re competing with each other though, I applied to the GEMS program, not Bio)

Indeed! I applied to general Biological Sciences, so I don’t believe there are any conflicts there. Keeping my fingers crossed for the both of us.

I wonder if you can get accepted off the wait-list if you haven’t interviewed?

The impression I’m getting from the grad cafe forums is that if we haven’t received interviews by now from many places, we should expect a rejection, even if an official rejection letter hasn’t been received. Is this true? The schools in particular I’m concerned about are the ones that had application deadlines in early December and have already extended invitations to interview to other applicants… Does anyone know from experience if I should be freaking out or just wait it out a little longer?

Rejected from UCSF Tetrad (had to check website to find out, no email)
Interviews at:
UTMB
UNC-CH (BBSP)
FSU

Happy for the interviews I’ve gotten so far! Very grateful!

Cheers to all in these very stressful times…

Eh, from what I’ve seen in the past, interview offers have been extended to candidates as late as February. It does seem there have been an influx of interview invites extended lately, but I expect this to be the case through at least late January.

It really depends on how many applicants there are to these programs, especially for those that have received over 1000 applications.

I may be optimistic here, but I don’t generally put myself out of the running until I have received a rejection, or a program says they have extended all invitations.

In either case, congrats on your interview offers so far!

@Elocin

Thank you so much! I’ll keep obsessively refreshing my email for a bit longer then…

:)

I got my first acceptance today from UPenn Biology Skype interview last week, then I got the acceptance today.

congrats @bassish101

skype interview…do you live outside the US?

Thanks! No, I’m really not sure why they did Skype interviews… They told me every interview was being done via skype or phone this year, then accepted candidates would be invited to visit in February. I thought it was all a bit unusual.

@ Th2Cell No problem! I figured I either call them hoping they don’t ask me for my name or wake up every morning wondering when/if I’ll ever get a response.

I haven’t heard from Emory (GDBBS), UCLA (ACCESS), or UMaryland (MMI) yet. Not expecting anything from Maryland, as I submitted their application not long ago, but the lack of response from Emory and UCLA is making me panicky, especially because I was in the flood of UWashington rejections in early December. Talk about a downer.

Probably the wrong place to post this, but is anyone going to the UA, Tucson interview weekend over the 24th? I’m looking for a buddy!

Called UCLA ACCESS grad admin, asked if they are still sending out interviews. Cryptic reply saying that the admissions are still open, so I asked if they are still reviewing some applications and the person said yes. I’m hoping they get around to a response soon.

Anyways, I haven’t given my info yet so here:

Hi, Does anyone know if Columbia send out rejection emails? If they do have they done this? If I havn’t received anything since confirmation of my application does this necessarily mean I am rejected?

I live in the UK and this is my only experience of applying to a US school so I’m a little confused about the process.

Thanks

Ucla access is still sending invites! just received one!

Yay! Thanks for the good news. Now to manic-ly refresh my email :D

Interview to ACCESS UCLA on Feb 9th…Also, I called Columbia last week, they said they hadnt looked at most of their apps.

According to grad cafe results page all invites for UC Berkeley biophysics have already been sent

Hey all,

For anyone still hoping for Northwestern IBiS (like me): according to grad cafe results, they will still be sending out invites over the next couple weeks.
