The deadline to apply was June 15th, now the waiting begins!

Any other semi-finalists on CC?

Dear ,

On behalf of the makers of Tylenol®, I am pleased to inform you that you have been selected as a semi-finalist for the TYLENOL® Future Care Scholarship. This means that your application has been selected for further consideration in the final award determinations. For your application to be considered you must complete the final steps and submit your transcript by July 19th, 2013.

I am also a semi finalist. I can’t find a stat anywhere saying how many semi finalists there are, though.

Right, and though the question has been asked countless times on the TYLENOL (R) Facebook page, it remains unanswered.

My guess is that with 25,000 people applying, an automated computer program using certain criteria picks several hundred, if not over one-thousand semifinalists; and then a more detailed review of the applicant qualifications and essays occurs, eventually by ‘humans’.

I never got an email for a semi-finalist…I guess I missed out? eh…

Do you guys mind sharing just roughly what your stats were like? Like a ton of awards, research, and extra-curriculars? Just trying to see what it takes to be a SEMI-finalist…

Yeah, I agree. The Facebook page was really useless. When I did Coca Cola Scholars, I think 80,000ish applied and there were about 1,200 semi finalists. So being in the semis doesn’t always make you a shoe-in.

The difference, though, is that all they want now is a transcript and a headshot. With Coca Cola, they had us do essays. I’m not so sure about this scholarship, because it’s weird to me they’re not digging deeper. I agree that they probably just screened us based on hard numbers and will now read our essays.

As for stats, pre-med, hard science major with a 3.94, honors student, officer of a couple clubs, lots of volunteering, steady job, WA State Scholar, and my research is being patented. Rising sophomore.

And does anyone know how we’re proving we’re enrolled in a pre-health program? My school isn’t set up to show that on our transcripts…

In other years with an earlier deadline, finalists were notified around the end of July. This year’s FB page at one point mentioned late July notification, but later stated that finalists would be notified by August 15.

Not a winner this year - email received today.

Anybody with better news that are willing to share their stats? I just called the scholarship office out of curiosity and it seems like more than 25,000 students applied this year as well…these are some harsh chances.

I beginning to think this some type of bogus scholarship. I don’t think anyone has ever received it on this board. Search all the “tylenol” posts and you’ll see what I mean. My son’s 3.99 GPA, as a junior, didn’t qualify.

It’s not a bogus scholarship. I can upload a picture of the check to prove it if you’d like. I was one of the recipients for the 2013 cycle. I would try again next year when the 2014 cycle opens.
