Tylenol Scholarship 2014

Did anyone apply this year? Guess we'll have to wait for semifinalist notifications!

Last year the semi- notifications came out two weeks after the application deadline.

Did you apply this year/last year Madison85? Hopefully we hear good news!!

Best of luck to you!

My kid applied last year and this year.

My guess would be that hundreds of people get semi-finalist status.

Oh sorry, I always forget there are lots of parents on these forums… Well their facebook just said this today: “Thanks to all you go-getters who applied for the 2014 TYLENOL® Scholarship. Award decisions will be made and winners notified in July and funds will be distributed in August of 2014.”

So it looks like the process has been somewhat streamlined this year.

Thanks for the update!

Got the semifinalist email this morning! They’re working fast this year.

Yes, my kid received the same email this morning as well, and only 10 days since the application closed! It would be interesting to know how many hundreds or thousands of applicants are selected by the software as semi-finalists.

Supposedly, you can call them and they’ll answer (I think)… This is the phone number they gave on the facebook page: (866) 851-4275

No luck this year :frowning: but first of all, I wish they would send out rejection letters. I don’t think a mass rejection notice is that hard to put together. Second, I wonder how semi finalists are picked? If it’s with a GPA cut of then they should be open about it, some off us have terrible stats on paper but big dreams and false hope is not a public service. Having no GPA requirement sounds so tempting and is a great marketing tool but I just don’t know if the effort is worth it with lackluster numbers.

I heard yesterday as well.
What are everyone’s stats
Grade Level/ GPA?
Also, anyone see the answer they posted to someone who asked a question on FB… it says that they are in the process of notifying winners… soo anyone heard back other than the semi-finalist emails?

Maybe they do it in batches. I don’t know… guess fingers should still be crossed perhaps they have GPA cut offs and then they read the any additional information section. I’m going with that. smh

@sizzler I was actually confused about the “it says that they are in the process of notifying winners.” as well… I thought the winners were going to be notified at the end of July/August? Maybe it was a mistake and the facebook page meant semifinalists…

Hi everyone. I also received the Semi-finalist e-mail 7/10/14. I think it’s funny how they don’t answer the question of how many are selected! Anyways, anyone have any experience with last year or previous years timeline? Like when should we expect a finalist/not a finalist e-mail?

Good luck to anyone waiting. I think they send out e-mails in batches because previous years some people were notified later than others!

6/15/2013: Deadline to apply
7/1/2013: Semi-finalist notification
8/2/2013: ‘Regret to inform you’ email

Thank you Madison85. I have a question for you actually… How did you learn or come to the conclusion that the semi-finalist selections were potentially computer selected? Thanks!!

It is just a guess - how can humans possible review thousands and thousands of applications in such a short time period? I think that a computer program is used to search completed applications for pre-set parameters and then selects 1,000 or more semifinalists to move on to the transcript/headshot phase.

In 2012, 25,481 people applied; it just makes sense that semi-finalists are selected without human involvement.

Dear Applicant,
Thank you for your application for the TYLENOL® Future Care Scholarship program. We regret to inform you that after careful review of your application by an independent selection committee, you were not selected as a semi-finalist. We are unable to provide feedback on the selection decision and all decisions are final.
On behalf of TYLENOL® and the selection committee, we wish you every success in your educational pursuits and encourage you to apply next year, if you meet all eligibility criteria.
Sincerely,
International Scholarship and Tuition Services, Inc.

I’m actually glad they told us something. Decided to post it in case anyone is interested. Congrats to Semi-finalist and good luck next year to the rest of all mankind that reapply!

@Madison85 Thank you for your response again. Interesting thought. I would probably agree that it is an automated sort of thing even though the above e-mail posted from SAPhelp says otherwise haha! Well all we can do now is wait for the next e-mail. Sorry SAPhelp about your e-mail, good luck in the future with the application.

Anyone get any word yet about being a Finalist or not?
