So the count down is on. I can hardly wait until Friday to see my son. I haven’t seen him since he left in August and we all really miss him! Is everyone counting down?

DS comes home on Sat night. Although he came home for Fall break, we are excited for him to spend a week home!
I think I got him the sat flight since he has Friday class until late.

I originally had him on a Friday night flight to accommodate Friday classes but he told me two of his a Friday classes were canceled so I just changed his flight this morning to a Friday morning flight. Thank goodness for Southwest no change fees!

I am also looking forward to seeing my son. We did see him in September at Family Weekend. I’m a little nervous since we are meeting him in Cancun. He’s flying in by himself. I can just see he getting pulled off to the side by the Mexican Authorities. At least we will be at the airport when he arrives.

Just reminded D to sign up with Housing since her flight back in on Friday (so she could go to the Tennessee game). Her responses…“I’m going back early?” “What’s the Tennessee game?”

Anyone else’s DD or DS headed to the airport around 4:30 on Friday from Hank? Maybe our kids could share an Uber ride.

My DS has a 640pm flight and will probably leave around 430. Last time around he had trouble coordinating with other kids and ended up taking inshuttle. So I’ve asked him to do the same.

@MiWiTx, Do you know if InShuttle picks up at or near The Commons or do they have to walk across campus to one of the hotels?

Any downside to using the free campus shuttles? D says they’re running from 1-5 from Commons on Friday.

I was reading the In Shuttle disclaimer for pickup at the airport on return trip after Thanksgiving. They say there is no refund if your flight is delayed. Do you then get to take a later shuttle or are you out the money?

Yellowgranite56–go to the last 3 options on the pull down menu (for Vanderbilt locations) on the inshuttle.com site and you will see that the riders have the choice of Hank, Memorial or Wyatt Center for pick up on the Commons so at least they don’t have to walk to one of the hotels or get lost at the med center trying to find the pick up location.
Mlmama–my D never had luck with the free campus shuttles, they fill up quickly from what I understand. She gave up on that option early on and now just books the InShuttle if she can’t find a friend to drop her at the airport.

Thanksgiving will not be the same without go2girl. The good news is that she’s flying home on 12/10. I can’t wait to see her.

Does inShuttle take the Commodore Card?

@socaldad2 … I’m not sure, but I know my D pre-paid online for inshuttle.

InShuttle does not take the Commodore Card

And inShuttle has to be booked 12 or more hours in advance.

I can’t find anything on their webpage about how to pay. No way to prepay that I can see, so maybe they removed that from their webpage.

I called them last night, and they are running shuttles to the dorms tomorrow, and no reservation is needed. Just show up at one of the dorms on their webpage. Pay the driver.

@socaldad2 … after I replied I discovered that D ditched inshuttle and did uber.

So happy to have D home! She took the free Vandy shuttle to the airport yesterday afternoon. Said it was not full and all worked out well. And the way trip back to campus will hopefully go smoothly. On the way back from Fall Break, she shared an SUV cab with 4 other Vandy kids who were either on her flight or that they ran into down at baggage claim, so it ended up costing just $6 each with tip!

@MImama: I ended up changing D’s return flight from Saturday morning before the TN game to Sunday because she said she wanted to spend more time here at home. Yea for us even if it’s because she’ll probably be spending that extra time with her close friends from high school, not just her family :).

My daughter took the Vandy Van yesterday, and she said it was full. A few kids were turned away. She said it was a good thing she didn’t take Über because the traffic was horrible and it took 45 minutes to get to the airport. It would’ve cost a fortune. She goes back next Saturday morning. May do the InShuttle.
