Just called Juilliard this morning and was told end of the month for piano pre-screen results since they have so many piano applicants. It’s our last one so really want to finish this stage and move on!
Thanks for the update. I’m sure my son won’t get a live audition, but we’d love the closure either way.

Hi for those who have gotten a live audition with Juilliard for VP UG can you tell me how were you notified? My son has not received an email as of yet, which I imagine is not a good sign.
The problem maybe that i had misunderstood what VP meant. I was thinking it was violin performance. If VP means vocal performance are there no violin prescreen results in Mezzo’sMama’s list?
Does anyone know when Juilliard composition prescreening would be released?

Sorry to hear that. My son also was declined at Juilliard UG piano.
While I’m a little disappointed (as a Juilliard alum)), I know the level of piano competition there is unbelievably high & there are a zillion applicants, which is why they notified pianists last. So we are done with the prescreen process now - on to the live rounds - my son has 9 auditions to get through. I’m not telling him about Juilliard yet because I want him to be optimistic about his chances for the other schools. It’s a relief to at least be done with one stage of this endless process. @bigbro, if they didn’t take your son, I’m not sure how they accepted anyone at all. It must be an extremely small group of older students. I think I am going to tell my son tonight. He knew it was coming, and otherwise I will accidentally slip and tell him (I’m terrible at keeping secrets from him).
On a happier note, my son had two great auditions this weekend – both Blair and Thornton went quite well. He got extremely positive feedback. One more formal audition (Michigan), then private lessons and college interviews/ informal auditions. Then we wait.
Your son is going to kick major buttocks. He will have his choice of colleges and conservatories. I just can’t wait for this part of the process to end. I’m exhausted.

Thanks plrsd888. But my son did very well with most schools so overall I’m happy & proud of him. I hope he comes away with a few choices. Right now he’s rather burnt out so am a little concerned about him having enough stamina for the live rounds.
