Vocal Performance PreScreen Notifications - Graduate and Undergraduate

This thread is for Vocal Performance graduate and undergraduate applicants and/or their parents, teachers, etc.

I thought it might be useful, and interesting, to start a thread of Prescreen Notification Dates. Current and future applicants will get a rough idea of when to expect their notifications from each school.

It might be useful to have a set format so people can sort through the results more easily.

The format might look something like this:

List the school first.

Identify yourself as Undergraduate or Graduate. (Notifications may be different for each category.)

Following a '-' symbol, type the Date and Type of notification (email, snail mail, status checker, phone??).

If you'd like, you can post your results ('passed' or 'declined' -- ie, invited to audition or declined), since notification dates may be different for each of those categories.

For this thread, I'm most interested in WHEN and HOW the various schools notify prescreened applicants of their decisions, rather than whether or not the applicants were accepted.

It might be useful to keep commentary to a minimum, so readers can sort quickly through the list.

I thought our list could look something like this:

Example University, Graduate - Dec 10, status checker (passed)
College of Singing, Undergraduate - Jan 4, email (declined)
Music Conservatory, Undergraduate - Dec 20, snail mail
Favorite College, Graduate - Jan 21, email (declined)
Opera University, Undergraduate - Dec 12, email

(Please don't make your entry Bold, I used bold type here just to set the list apart from the rest of my post.)

If enough people partake to make this worthwhile, I may try to alphabetize the list by school names as we go along.

Oberlin Conservatory, Undergraduate - November 11, email (passed)

^Wow. So soon! Excellent. Congratulations, and thanks for posting!

I did the early audition date, so that’s why it was extremely early  I won’t hear results until this saturday! I’m really nervous but excited for the results!

Does anyone know when Northwestern, Oberlin, Southern Methodist, Rice, or University of Houston will send out their notifications for voice? And whether it will be online or in the mail! SO NERVOUS

^Yay! What a great day you must have had yesterday! Congratulations, lisanic.

For anybody keeping up with this thread, I am reposting others’ results alphabetically after they post. Unlike the Acceptances and Final Decisions threads, this thread is not so much congratulatory (though we’re happy for everybody who gets good news!), but rather more like a resource, for this year and future years (?), so people can get an idea of when to expect prescreening notifications from various schools. For that reason, I’m not posting screen names with the notifications here.

Congrats to all! :)

Here is our list so far of prescreening notifications received by CC members:

So does this mean that I probably didn’t pass BU if I didn’t get an email? Gee, I’d rather get a rejection email than have to wait for a rejection in my mailbox! Why can’t they just do everything all at once?

 • I was also declined by MSM. So this is pretty rough. I got an HM from Young Arts, so that gave me a bit of confidence that my recordings were good enough to pass prescreenings. Guess not. Good thing I applied to a lot of schools!

^Oh, I’m sorry, Lalalovely2013. I know that threads like these can hurt feelings. It’s painful to think that you might miss the opportunity to audition. I would probably draw the same conclusion about BU that you have. But I suppose it’s not necessarily true. It’s clear that you have something to offer – or you wouldn’t have received the HM from Young Arts. Hang in there. Wishing you the best!

Whoops, that’s Manhattan. Haste makes waste
