I was recently accepted as sophomore transfer to Columbia, Brown, and UPenn, and I am really torn about where to transfer to. I think I am leaning more towards Columbia and Brown but I am still considering all three and have listed my thoughts below, and so I would really appreciate any feedback!!

Columbia:
I love NYC & the campus, and i’ve heard it has an intellectual vibe! i’ve also heard its not too friendly and so maybe its hard to integrate? Also, I am not a humanities person so I am concerned about the Core, but it does sound interesting. And I dont know what a bar scene would be like

Brown:
I love open curriculum!! and it seems to be friendly and welcoming, but I dont know much about the social environment or what it would be like as a transfer

UPenn:
Seems like a great place to be, people seem friendly, the high rises seem great, and BYOs sound found. I am concerned that the frat scene dominates social life

What are you studying?

What else, if not Econ?
If you’re doing Econ or anything business related, I definitely choose either Columbia or UPenn.
Columbia’s – like you mentioned previously-- proximity to NYC should help you a lot with internships/work. And I think you’re getting Columbia confused with NYU; Columbia is by no means “unfriendly”.
At UPenn, you can go for a B.S. Econ at Wharton, which will allow you get in a concentration with finance/business, if that’s your thing. You can also do the B.A. in econ and go more liberal arts (but if you value a liberal arts education, Brown is the obvious choice).

Very tough call for you; I’d personally do Columbia, UPenn, followed very closely by Brown. That said, they are all amazing schools and I’m sure you’ll be happy at any one of them
If I may ask, what school are you transferring from?

Wharton is not an option unless you were accepted directly as a transfer, so it would have to be the BA.

thanks for your feedback!!
