I got a 2 somehow on US Gov. When I was taking the test, I thought this was the easiest test ever, and I was really confident that I got either a 4 or a 5. I was 100% sure at the time that I would at least get a 3. I don’t know what happened. Do you think I should ask for a rescore? The only thing that I could think of that would cause this would be College Board forgetting to add the raw scores from the sections together… I don’t know what to do because I really feel like I did well on the exam and I am still in denial that I got a 2. I don’t want to pay $30 for a rescore because I feel like it would be a waste of money because it rarely happens that College Board would make a scoring mistake.

US Gov-4 ( about what I expected)
Lit and Comp- 5 (Also what i expected)
Statistics-3 (I am absolutely shocked. I was so lost the entire year. So I’m ecstatic:D)

@spartansxx
It sounds pretty funny when you say it like that, but I actually like long “essays” about AP scores. They’re fun to read, and it’s comforting to see that other students feel similar about certain AP scores.

Well, right, @neldabg that is what this thread is for. Kind of like “don’t go to the pool if you don’t want to get wet!”.

I’d like to see summaries like this:
Attending Public HS (20 AP courses offered)
Calc AB - 3 (self-study)
Chem - 2
English Lang - 4
Latin - 2

Calc AB: 3. Thought he could swing a 4 or 5, but he was self-studying while taking regular calculus. Our guess is open-ended got him again. But he can take Calc BC next year now, which he is highly recommended for his proposed major.

Chem: 2. Hoped for a 3, but the teacher was terrible but more importantly really didn’t like him. She made mistakes on her slides for the class and in the labs (sorry class, that lab you did yesterday, I made up the wrong concentrations and you have to redo it. Or, giving you a piece of lead instead of the zinc you were supposed to get…), laughed them off, then graded harshly and didn’t give feedback on errors… Open-ended probably killed him though, the process wasn’t taught well. He should have approached it as a self-study.

English Lang & Comp: 4. WHAT?!?!?! Totally blown away by this, he’s not even taking honors let alone AP English next year because of lack of interest. He always did 100% on vocabulary, but had a 630 CR for the SAT and a 670 on the English Literature SAT II. And SAT essays were a 7 and 8. Apparently he was “on” that day or individual graders do matter.

Latin: 2. Teacher told them it was way hard, he’d be shocked if anyone gets a 3, so whatever. They also studied JC first then Virgil, so my son thought it would have been better test prep to do both in parallel (he forgot JC stuff somewhat). And, considering the three Latin teachers he has dealt with all had “their own” idea of what proper Latin is, you can bet the people who review the AP exams have their own ideas as well. This course alternates years at his HS, so he was happy to get it over with junior year.

He has a 3 from last year in Bio. He’s taking four AP senior year, and one he is almost definitely not taking the exam in. He likes and is confident in all three of his AP teachers next year, so we hope it will go better.

(His excuse for all of the low grades is roadwork outside his window several of the nights before the exams, from 10 pm to 6 am, and it was resurfacing of a highway so really really loud. It’s the only time I can remember them doing 8 hours of roadwork straight, and it’s during AP exams. Usually you can’t hear the traffic even if you try.)

I still don’t have my score
Yay

If you guys studied for huge amounts of time and “worked your butt off” and still got 3’s and 4’s maybe its time to consider the fact that maybe you simply don’t have what it takes. Personally I think studying for massive amounts of time does more harm than good. I studied for like 4 hours in total on the weekend before the AP Bio exam and got a 5.

Lol @WAAALT, I think that’s pretty subjective. Some people are taking AP exams for subjects that aren’t their “speciality” (like if I was to take AP Calc, I’d probably have to bust my ass off, but I got a 4 on my APWH exam without heavy studying).

If you spread out your studying, you don’t have to work your butt off and cram. If you had a teacher that gave you questions from previous AP exams throughout the year, even better. If your AP sciences are double periods instead of 1 like in many high schools, great! And some people thinks studying an hour a day for a few weeks is “working your butt off” (that’s what I did), while to others it’s studying 5 hours a day for two months and committing social suicide. So I think it’s fickle and pretty self-serving to jump to conclusions about who does or doesn’t “have what it takes”, especially when it’s based on what a stranger types on the internet.

But congrats. I’m not trying to rain on your parade, just don’t rain on ours.

@CallmeC truth

@CallmeC lol junior year in general is social suicide (it applied for a lot of other ppl, not just me)… senior year is when the fun starts.

5s on Chem, Macro, USH, Lang

Stat - 5, USH - 5

@DoctorMD It will be fine don’t worry about it. I got a horrible horrible score on my first AP last year, and I was so scared for the 4 that I was taking this year 'cause last year was just traumatizing… I ended up getting three 5’s and one 4, and got over my ap exam fear haha.

@mtjade congrats on your scores! i got over it now. I’m taking four AP exams this year as well. Just hoping I will do as well as you did this year (I’m dying to get a five on bio. The university I want to go to will give you TEN credits for a five on bio!).

US History - 5
As a sophomore, it was the only AP class that I was allowed to take. I pretty much expected a 5, because I was the only person that ever took notes on my teacher’s lectures, the only person that consistently attended review sessions, and the only person that actually did my homework from the textbook, and didn’t just Google everything. I got a 4 on AP Gov’t last year, so I was bound and determined to get a 5 this year.

My son got National AP Scholar! I am surprised because he does have two 3s on exams. He has 8 4s and 5s. I thought getting a 3 on any exam disqualified you for National AP Scholar. Anyway, very excited!

Congratulations to everyone! I got Nat’l AP Scholar so I’m so happy

Chem- 4 (I really thought this would be a 3. The free-response was too long)

Bio- 4 (Wanted a 5, but still pleased)

Environmental - 4 (I got so scared because I self studied this one and everyone in my school was like the test is so hard, you’re gonna fail. And I kinda “forgot” to study for the entire year until the week before the test. But due to a schedule conflict with Chemistry, I took the late test so I’m guessing that it was easier)

US History- 5 (Expected)

Statistics - 5 (I got a 3 on the mock exam so I was very surprised but then again the FRQ was amazingly easy)

English Lang.- 5 (I missed a 5 by one point on the mock, and on the real test, for the first time I actually finished all the essays. The one where you had to write a letter to the directors was really WEIRD though. Didn’t know they had prompts like that.)

It was my first time taking AP exams, and I think I got an AP Scholar with Distinction. Could someone confirm that for me?

Bio- 3 (On the mock exam my teacher gave us I got a 5. I have no idea what happened. Even my teacher was really surprised.)

Calc AB- 3 (My teacher only taught us derivatives. Boy I was so unprepared. I expected a 1. I’m never trusting teachers again in AP classes. I’d rather self study.)

Physics B- 3 (I nailed the MC and first 3 free response. The rest of the free response were basically horrible, bc I lost interest towards the end of the course when the teacher was cramming lessons in last minute and not really helping.)

Enviro- 4 (I skimmed REA the night before and minutes before the test. I really liked the subject. It was a self study btw.)

Human Geo- 5 (I skimmed REA the night before. This was also a self study.)

Funny how my best scores were self studies. But I wasn’t too into AP classes the second half of the year and I was just waiting for summer to start so I could work at the hospital. Hopefully, this doesn’t affect me too much for college. I’m gonna try harder senior year.

Yay for enviro self-studies @alwayssona !! I think you do have AP Scholar with distinction. Per the collegeboard’s website:

<a href=“AP Scholar Awards – AP Central | College Board”>http://professionals.collegeboard.com/k-12/awards/ap-scholar

“AP Scholar with Distinction: Granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams”

Congrats on your score!
