2014 Commits

ChicagoMama … I am one lucky dad … three boys … three college athletes … but more importantly … three young men that know they are there to get an EDUCATION FIRST … at three great (and different) schools!

Congratulations, everybody! My S will be running track at his dream school, Columbia U.

Congratulations trackdad !!! Your family must be having happy school vacation.

Happy New Year :)

Thanks, ChicagoMama. We are all thrilled and still in a state of disbelief!

Congrats to all the recently committed athletes!

Hey All

Hope everyone is getting a break with the apps. in.

K2 made a decision from all of the EA results (and one deferred) and bought a sweatshirt.

So I guess the RD app and the deferred status on one won’t matter.
We have advised K2 to have the hs send the transcripts of 1st semester to those 2 schools in case someone changes their mind…

Now to keep someone from too much of a sr slump…

K2 and coach have been in regular contact…however it has been a different experience with k2 who did not apply ivy
and k1 who did.
Both D1 teams. Different recruiting styles for sure :)

not sure which recruiting exp I prefer…
At peace that both kids landed at first choice schools.

S committed to play football at Davidson. It went down to the wire as he was also talking to several other Division Is and Division IIIs (including one NESCAC). It’s been a long process but he is excited.

NESCACgrad88 I just responded to you on the other thread because I always follow football families, and am so happy about this - I doubt you will ever have any regrets about this school choice, what a great school and education. I didn’t know from the context of some posts which schools were in the mix, but there is no doubt that Davidson is a huge brass ring. Congratulations!

Thanks, ChicagoMama, he is very happy. As you can tell by my CC name, I am a NESCAC grad (Wesleyan), and I was naturally biased towards the Northeastern schools. We have been quite impressed with the Davidson administration and coaches, and feel it will be a much more enjoyable and warmer (both in terms of people and climate) place for my son than virtually any other school he was looking at. Plus, they play more games per season than the 8 game NESCAC schedule!

HI All
Checking in only the second time since they changed this whole format…Have been a CC member since like 2008 so I guess I am glad to be about “done”. As for K2…got into all 7 schools. So I guess the bottom line is cast a wide net. K2 got into the first choice school EA as well as the other 5. Then one school deferred and then accepted. So a happy kiddo for sure. All of that worry–and it all worked out. Great coach support all around. Honest communication with them. The OV at the #1 choice school was a great experience for K2. And so the decision has really been made since the early acceptance. Good luck to everyone’s student-athletes and their families.

You sound like you are truly done on here @fogfog, if you truly are, you will be missed. I for one have learnt a lot from your posts. Good luck to your K2, and the very best for the future to all of you.

@Nescacgrad88, congrats! I don’t know much about Davidson, not being American, and it not being one of the names that everyone in the World knows, but the little I know is impressive. Was watching BB at the weekend (for the c. 3rd time in my life (!)), and was really impressed with what seemed to me to be the exceptional skills of Stephen Curry. I was so intrigued I googled him, only to learn that none of the top Colleges recognised what Davidson did when he was 17/18. None of them recruited him, he ‘ended up’ in Davidson, but apparently loved it, and the rest, as they say, is history. Their coaches (based on the above), and one would assume this is continuing, sure know how to spot real talent!!! Well done to your S.

fogfog I check in every week or so and I am so happy for you. Hope you won’t stray too far. Your advice was invaluable to me. I’ve got another one coming up and in two different sports so will be here. Congratulations on your own “graduation” !! Well done :-*
