2014 Engineering Students Laptops

Good to know, @TexasAtHome. That’s $20 less than Apple charges for the memory upgrade when configuring one through them.

@divensnorkel‌ Yes it is cheaper than retail but the same as the standard educational discount which we get as a homeschool. Still the 4 year safe plan is a great deal…only it seems many Engineering students take 5 years! :)

Spoke with Financial Aid Office, and was told to use this form (https://financialaid.tamu.edu/Libraries/Forms/1415RequesttoChangeCostofAttendance.sflb.ashx</a>) to request a change in the Financial Aid offer to reflect the cost of a computer. Also confirmed with MacResource that the cost of bumping the 13" MacBook Pro from a 256 to 512GB hard drive is an extra $300, and from an 8 to 16GB of RAM is an extra $180.

PsynMS, I’m a software engineer and for contract work I used an Inspiron for years. I think you’ll be fine! If you somehow were to have a problem there’s a huge computer lab you can use.

So has anyone purchased the Dell? I have a transfer student (CompEngr) starting in the fall who is taking some summer courses. I’m tempted to order now and let him get used to it before classes start.

We ordered the Dell recently, and should receive it soon. I don’t know if it’s still offered, but with our order of the Dell we got a free 7" Dell Tablet. That came in about one week after the order.

Funny we got the tablet FIRST and then the laptop. It’s a nice machine and the tablet made the price a little more palatable. The warranty is really what sold me.

Did anyone get two tracking numbers, one for the laptop and the other for the tablet? I just one tracking #
