2014 Fall UCSD Transfer Decisions Thread

^^ logged in and mine is there as well. NOT CLICKING OUT. haha

All first wave admissions should be up. I’m sitting with 4 other people who applied to UCSD as transfers and all of our results loaded. Good luck to all of you!

Lucky you guys!

The admissions page is back up with my decision again!
I’m glad it wasn’t a fluke, haha.
I posted my stats here already but I’ll use the more complete “standard” format, now that I know for sure:

Decision: Accepted (Sixth College)

UC GPA: 3.70
Major Pre-reqs Completed (Y/N): No, missing second year of calculus and the science sequence, but I got all As in the many CS courses I took.
Intended Major: Computer Science
TAG?: No
IGETC?: Yes

Extracurriculars (clubs, leadership, volunteer, work): Nothing really related to my major on my application. Honors student, some small writing award, etc.
Additional Details: Had 4 Ws.
Applied for Financial Aid?: Yes
State (if domestic applicant): CA
Country (if international applicant):
Ethnicity: Asian
Gender: Male
Estimated Family Contribution(EFC)/Income Bracket: decline to state
Attending Transfer Admit Day? (if admitted): Not sure.

Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected (strengths/weaknesses): I think it mostly boiled down to my overall GPA, to be honest. (Does UCSD even read Personal Statements for transfers?). Also, I took a lot of extra computer science classes throughout each semester and got good grades in them, which might have helped. I doubt I would have been admitted if CS was impacted this year (which it will be 2015) because of my missing pre-reqs, so I lucked out.

Good luck to those still waiting and congratulations to those who got in!

It’s great to hear that things appear to be going more smoothly now  congrats, you guys!

Did anyone else notice in their portal that they got rid of the Apply for Undergrad Housing? They probably got sick of all of us checking that tab even though it doesn’t mean anything haha

Edit: nevermind, I guess it’s back for me?

It’s showing up for me, movieguy.

I just edited my post. I guess it was gone for a quick second

I am assuming that the people that have not gotten a decision by this time are part of the next batch, right? Or are more decisions going to come out later today ?

Decision: Accepted (Muir College)

UC GPA: 3.6
Major Pre-reqs Completed (Y/N): Y
Intended Major: Computer Science
TAG?: Yes
IGETC?: Yes

Extracurriculars (clubs, leadership, volunteer, work): honors, compsci club, robotics club, volunteer stuff, work, programming competitions
Additional Details: 3 Ws
Applied for Financial Aid?: Yes
State (if domestic applicant): CA
Country (if international applicant):
Ethnicity: Mexican
Gender: Male
Estimated Family Contribution(EFC)/Income Bracket: haha, not a lot
Attending Transfer Admit Day? (if admitted): Probably

Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected (strengths/weaknesses): I took EVERY computer science and programming class available, got As in all of them. I don’t know if UCSD cares, but I’m Mexican, and my personal statement was good.

Good luck to everyone! May the rest of the admissions process go smoothly.

@domnomial, did you receive a notification by email? I’m also a CS TAG student but on MyApplication it still says under review.

@underbear, Nope, I just decided to check, and I saw that a decision was posted.

my housing message just changed to “The housing application will be available in late-March and available for those admitted to UC San Diego” from “admissions status will not let you proceed with this Housing Application”

is it good sign??

Decision: Accepted (Muir College)

UC GPA: Not sure how to calculate this. Got straight A’s and 2 B’s.
Major Pre-reqs Completed (Y/N): Never knew where to find prereqs, the counselor i spoke to told me that only the impacted majors had a required set of prereqs, and that if the major is not impacted, you only had to complete the general UC transfer requirements and I suppose it helps to have as many of the major requirements as possible prior to transfer. But I was basing most of my coursework off UCI’s Public Health requirements and I suppose there was enough overlap to get me into UCSD =)
Intended Major: Public Health
TAG?: No
IGETC?: Yes

Extracurriculars (clubs, leadership, volunteer, work): a little volunteer work here and there, was co-captain of a basketball league i played in for a season. did some tutoring.
Additional Details: CSU to CC to UC applicant. It’s been a wild ride.
Applied for Financial Aid?: Yes
State (if domestic applicant): CA
Country (if international applicant):
Ethnicity: Asian
Gender: Male
Estimated Family Contribution(EFC)/Income Bracket: too rich to get any financial aid, too poor to pay for it out of pocket.
Attending Transfer Admit Day? (if admitted): Hopefully

Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected (strengths/weaknesses): Strong grades coupled with what i believe was an excellent personal statement.

Good luck you guys, can’t wait for more of us to get in.

Is this the real decision?? I’m not even sure anymore! I’ll just do a much more clean stat update though.

Decision: Accepted, Revelle

UC GPA: 3.78
Major Pre-reqs Completed (Y/N): Yes
Intended Major: Physics
TAG?: Yes
IGETC?: Completed

Extracurriculars (clubs, leadership, volunteer, work): Member clubs, vice president of STEM club, engineering competitions.
Additional Details:
Applied for Financial Aid?: Sort of
State (if domestic applicant): CA
Country (if international applicant):
Ethnicity: Native American
Estimated Family Contribution(EFC)/Income Bracket: 200
Attending Transfer Admit Day? (if admitted): Yep!

Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected (strengths/weaknesses): If TAG didn’t guarantee me acceptance I think my personal statements would have been the deciding factor alongside my gender and major. I had a terrible semester last year due to severe family health issues and I battled depression because of it. It tanked my GPA, but I’m still intending to push through school, so I guess that says something.

Good luck everyone!
