2014 Fall UCSD Transfer Decisions Thread

@WhiteTiger84‌ i call bs ;)

@WhiteTiger84‌ that’s a pretty drastic thing to do. I don’t think you should judge a whole school based on your experiences with just a small handful of people. Perhaps it’s only the Admissions office people who are like that.

@anavera‌
I said I want to be surrounded by supportive and friendly staff . Just like a secretary that sit in front of a company, that secretary is the face of the company. IT is their job to answer questions from prospective students and with friendly customer service. If I were to get admitted to UCSD and decided to go, its obvious that I would still have to deal with the unfriendly admissions staff. It’s like going to a restaurant and getting a ■■■■■■ service… I don’t know about you but I don’t go back to ■■■■■■ restaurants with ■■■■■■ service.

@WhiteTiger84‌

You won’t have to deal with admissions once you get in, so I wouldn’t go that far.

Guess what, I bet every single college has a few staff members who are not super friendly! Especially at this time of year, when admissions knows everyone is waiting for them. I would just give it some time, and reevaluate it if/when you get admitted.

There’s a problem here if the course of your entire college career will depend on the friendliness of a few admissions staff. One would hope that you’d be much more involved with your studies, campus events, clubs, internships, and social life. From environment/culture, academics, award packages, etc, there are many more things to be concerned about when deciding what school you would like to attend. The friendliness of admissions should be somewhere near #286 on your list of concerns. You’ll be interacting with thousands of times more people than just those sitting behind the admissions counter.

At a restaurant, the service is half the experience. At a university, the service of admissions is a tiny, negligible part of your years in college.

My bf goes to UCSD and he said that the counselors/ academic advisors aren’t very friendly or helpful. But UCSD is high stress environment so it kind of makes sense why everyone is the way they are…
If you want friendly staff members UCSC is for you! The professors/advisors are super nice.

@WhiteTiger84‌ Yeah, going off of what music1990 said, I just mean I doubt you’ll have to deal with admissions much at all once you get in. I think the best thing to do would be to check out the school yourself.

I’m not going to be picky. Don’t think I can afford to be when it comes to picking colleges at this point. So far accepted into two backup schools which I hear has very friendly staff, but if UCSD accepts me… I will gladly accept. HAHA! I’m not letting a admission’s rep (okay, maybe a bunch of the staff there) get in the way of my future. Just gotta suck it up and come out of there on top with or without their help. Already used to some of the difficult advisers and professors I had to deal with at both the community colleges I went to. In the end, it just builds character. Nothing is gonna phase me if I get in… GOOD VIBES! Plus, maybe I can get a job in admissions and be one of the few friendly staff members. Can’t blame the reps for giving attitude though. Hopefully we all get our decisions soon so that all this tension fades out and we can go off living our futures and more importantly stop checking this website every hour of the day. It’s exhausting.

service down lol!!

the myapplication website is down! not surprised.

its always down at midnight. If they do post decisions it will more than likely be tomorrow. The day of first decisions it was down around 8-9 am and then decisions came out around noon

@philojunkie‌, It’s usually down around this time

ahh Mine says … System Error. Please report the following to the Customer Service Representative or call the ACT Help Desk at (858) 534-1853 or (858) 534-3187 (after business hours). Hopefully it means something…:(

I’m confused does it state anywhere that UCSD decisions will be out at midnight? Don’t they usually come out at noon?

ahh… it just came back to normal and nothing changed… are they just messing with us?

They always do maintenance around this time, they’d much more likely come out during the day.

I’ve seen the error before, now it says function unavailable if you click on housing. This is normal at this time. Around like 30 minutes passed midnight or so, the error message that you see @davidyoonn‌ goes away and instead the housing message says function unavailable. I’ve seen this many times, so it’s a normal thing.

@transfer14ptl‌ nope the site is alway down for maintenance every night around midnight. As far as a specific time they are usually posted idk but last batch was around noon so I am counting on that

Not only this website, but there are a lot of other sites that go on “maintenance” mode EVERY NIGHT. I really don’t understand what needs to be “maintained” EVERY NIGHT.

Did the last batch come out on 18th last year? ahhh can’t even study for my midterm
