2014 Fall UCSD Transfer Decisions Thread

Decision: Waitlist
Intended Major: Chemical Engineering
UC GPA: 3.5
IGETC: No
1 Math Class and 2 Physics classes missing

Which other UC’s did you apply to?
Applied: UCB, UCD, UCLA, UCSD, UCSB, UCI, UCSC, UCR, UCM
Accepted: UCR
Waitlist: UCSD
Rejected: All the rest

Am I allowed to waitlist on UCSD while submit my SIR to UCR?

When should we send in our transcripts by? I read by July 1st for all grades including Spring 2014 but I’m not sure if they want anything earlier than that.

I know that for UCLA, for example, they want grades through Fall 2013 in by June 1st.

@SDSUCSD, you should request all your transcripts now to make sure they get there by July 1st (highschool & college)

So I have another question, how do we know which degree we will end up getting? I mean I was admitted into CS but I have no idea if I will end up with the B.A. or B.S. degree. Help please

@Toastedsub94 Did you apply as computer science, or Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences? Check your UC application.

@CollegeDropout1‌ I applied for Computer Science(I don’t think there’s an option for EE&CS, and I can’t remember if I chose the BA or BS option), I checked the pdf document I saved when I first applied but it doesn’t show whether I applied for the BA or BS degree. I just wanna make sure I’m well informed before I make my final decision.

@toastedsub94 It sounds like you applied to the CS B.A. option. The college of engineering CS degree is called Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences, not computer science.

For CS, I think it was both BS & BA when you selected the major.

Wait ^^, that was for TAG i think.
But for the UC app, this is what I have at least:

“Computer Science and Engineering (Computer Science)”

@Toastedsub @Bhav007 I am sorry for giving you bad information. I thought this was the Cal thread. It really doesn’t matter if it was the BA or the BS, since you can change it when you get to UCSD. It is still not impacted, so you are fine. You can have which ever one you want.

for those of you who have sired to ucsd, how does the housing work for the on campus, village, specifically… i am so confused… as of now all i did was apply for undergraduate housing on the myapplication site.
Am I missing something??? I haven’t gotten any emails and I’m confused as of what the next step is.

how important is the high school transcript for ucsd?I’m a international transfer student and i called the admission office to ask about the high school transcript for school outside of the US. the lady told me that they don’t bother with high school transcript.

I was accepted, but I might have my offer rescinded! I really have no one to blame but myself.

Pass subject requirements with grades of “C” or better.

My foreign language class’ (ASL 102) final percentage is a 69.52%, which is still considered a D :(

This will be my first time ever at college that I received a grade lower than a B. Never had a C or lower. Tomorrow, I will call the admissions counselors and see what they think of my situation. I’m pretty ashamed of myself that after all my hard work and getting accepted, I can have it all undone because of one class.

@mr401k, did you try talking to the teacher and see if he’ll bump it?

I have to decline my UCSD offer, anybody know how to do that?

@saltedcashews for transfer students, the application for The Village was submitted on myapplication. It was very short and I think it said congratulations your housing app has been submitted. They will be emailing applicants in June for the next step. We learned this at Triton Transfer Day. They supposedly list the available units & you choose from them on the date & time you are given in the email. It’s important to set up your UCSD email. Goodluck!

Has anyone here turn down ucla for ucsd?

@cochoa14‌ I most likely will.

I’m also trying to figure out how to decline my admission offer.

@mr401k I feel you bro. I’m probably getting my first C in my computer programming class after averaging a 4.0 for 3 semesters, simply because my prof. failed me on a project for having code that was too similar to that of another student.

Anyways, you should email your prof. explaining your situation and maybe he’ll bump it up if it’s not too late. But yeah, it’s extremely frustrating to have your university admission jeopardized by some meaningless community college course.

Just a heads up…if any new transfers are interested in changing colleges, the deadline to request for a switch is tomorrow, May 27. If anyone wants to transfer out of Revelle, I could switch with you from Warren. Let me know if you’re interested!
