It would be nice if they sent out a letter either way. The time and effort it takes to get all the paperwork together and write the essay should at least be acknowledged so we’re not all wondering

I applied as well and in the very beginning of June i was actually able to speak to someone who told me the winners would be announced within the next 2 weeks and here we are still waiting. I’ve called and emailed so many times and no one answers anything

I am thinking of all those community service certificates I had to get people to complete. Ugh!

I’m thinking the winners have already been chosen and notified. It says on the application that only winners will be notified. They haven’t posted anything about it on their website but I guess that doesn’t necessarily mean the winners haven’t been selected. I just think common courtesy would be nice and they could at least send out some type of letter to the non winners as well just as an acknowledgement.

I believe the winners have been chosen and attended a luncheon in their honor in May. @nikkimf Not sure why they told you 2 weeks, maybe because that’s when their magazine came out with the article about the luncheon.

May? The scholarship app. said winners would be notified during the summer and the press release announcing last year’s winners wasn’t released until mid-September. Even now searches don’t bring up any announcement of winners; surely if the luncheon was over 3 months ago, they’d have released the names by now. My daughter just found out she won the 100 Black Men of America scholarship 5 days ago so there’s definitely some out there that haven’t been decided.

These late notices are so crazy. Seems that students would need funds by now. I know my bill was due by August 2.

Our tuition was due 8/20 and yet my daughter still has 6 scholarships outstanding. They’ll credit next semester, but it made paying this semester tougher. :(

I still have 2 that haven’t paid yet. My school bill is paid, but I was depending on this money to cover other expenses. Makes no sense to me unless they have had a lot of issues in the past with students changing their minds of what college to attend last minute. Waiting to disburse would keep them from having to redo it.
