Mdmom14… in MC…it’s interesting how different states have varying amount of activity/ and posters. Maryland seems to be under-represented! I guess it’ll be a bit more waiting…which is not always easy!!!

Tonight at a parents meeting the principal told my daughter he wanted to see her tomorrow in his office. He indicated he had a congratulatory letter to share with her. As she is on the fence score wise (223 in CA) we are hoping that they don’t send out letters if they aren’t a semifinalist. Does anyone know ?

No, they don’t send out letters to those who don’t make NMSF.

If your D has a 223, then it’s nearly certain that she made it. No state has ever had a cutoff higher than 223.

I’m guessing that NMCorp has internally decided that 223 is the highest any state’s cutoff will ever be, no matter how the numbers work out in a state.

didn’t someone report in the other thread that Calif cutoff is 221?

They said that it was more than 220 (cuz a 220 didn’t make it)
In terms of upper bounds, all we know is that a 229 is enough.
221-228 is the grey area right now.

@univbound- maybe that’s why yours are a little longer in getting notification? MC usually has LOTS of nmsf and ours usually has very few. Let me know if calling your gc doesn’t yield any results and I can try some social engineering on my side to see if I can get anyone to confirm/deny whether he was the only one or if there were others to try and pinpoint a cutoff range. :)

MDMom14 - Thanks for your information yesterday and today. I’d appreciate hearing anything else you – or anyone else from Maryland – learns. My son is sitting on a 221 so its a very, very close call for us! Thanks.

ScoutDad- no problem! No school today for us but I can see what I can find out tomorrow… hopefully someone will post something before then though!

Yes, waiting not so patiently here!

From the data, it seems the cutoff for MI would be likely between 211 and 213 (+1 to +3 from historical high).

Arizona’s cut-off is 214, which is +2 over the 2013 cut-off. Best of luck to everyone!

totally understand the waiting not so patiently issue. I think there may be tn scores(or at least a smaller range) on the other thread.

Thanks ctl987!
The last I saw was 218 for TN. My daughter has a 220, so I feel really good about it, but hate the wait!
Good luck to you!

Waiting for some additional feedback also - 221 in NY - no information yet.

Anyone have any info on Oregon? No datapoints so far.

When is the official press release date? I have school off until Monday the 9th, so I probably won’t find out until the press date at this point (unless someone is kind enough to provide information on a 223’s status in CA!!).

There is a reported 212 in the other thread who made NMSF in MI. So the cutoff will likely be between 210 and 212, based on our lack of mail this week (209 no) and their post (212 yes.)

From that one historical post, no state has ever had a score higher than a 223. I would be interested in knowing if NMCorp has set 223 as the max cut-off point.

Press release date is Wed 9/11

MA once cutoff at 224 (in 2007)

I would imagine that cutoff’s would be whatever keeps it at around 16,000

One could infer that the 2012 PSAT was “easier” than usual

ROCKFISHDG “One could infer that the 2012 PSAT was “easier” than usual”

Maybe our kids are getting “smarter” ! LOL

MA once cutoff at 224 (in 2007)

I missed that on the chart. Is that a typo? Strange that only one state would have that score. The int’l score isn’t mentioned.
