Mandler, to calculate you transfer GPA, first check which of your courses transfer over using UT Austin’s ATE ([UT Austin Automated Transfer Equivalency System](<a href=“Automated Transfer Equivalency System | Undergraduate Admissions | The University of Texas at Austin”>Automated Transfer Equivalency System | Undergraduate Admissions | The University of Texas at Austin)).

Then depending on your letter grade for the courses that transfer and the weighting of course credits, you can calculate your GPA using the following conversion chart. ([Computing GPA | Be a Longhorn](http://bealonghorn.utexas.edu/transfer/admission/factors/gpa)).

Does anyone know how long it usually takes before they get the menigitis information when you fax it?

I still haven’t gotten my admission decision… It’s been in review for 8 weeks. I give up! Ill be staying at Baylor I guess. Best of luck to y’all!

Here’s a spreadsheet of statistics I made with admissions of some of the people in this thread. The information might be helpful for you guys!

You can add me to your spreadsheet sekrim.

Accepted. Education. 3.67

thanhnguyencs The problem is those classes don’t cover the 3 entry-level requirements like I was told they would by completely different advisers. If I was accepted into CNS it wouldn’t be as big of a deal because at least I’d know I can take them. Should I even risk putting my life on hold because they can give a simple “no” to me requesting the classes from UGS?

I understand. I think the best way you can do is talking to UT counselors. I hope they can give you an exact answer for your question.

Accepted with a 3.46 into COLA! I’m so excited for this opportunity! It was a special Thanksgiving this year.

My GPA is a 3.65 outside of UT.

-62 hours
-A lot of community service within the past 5 years
-3 essays
-1 letter of rec

I found out last Tuesday, but I was so busy last week I didn’t have time to post anything. Congratulations to all of those who were accepted!! It has been a long journey for me to get here, and I’m sure it has been for many of you as well.

To those who were not accepted and are feeling bummed, don’t give up! I’ve been there before. This was my 4th application to UT. I applied once when I was a high school senior, and 3 times since I’ve been out of high school. The Spring 2014 application was my 3rd application (not counting high school).

I was offered the CAP program as a senior in high school, but I had something else going on in my life at the time and I didn’t do the program.

I also had to work at raising my GPA due to the two “C’s” I received when I took ACC dual credit courses in high school.

I’ve appealed the admissions decision before, had one of my appeals approved, but I wasn’t admitted for that semester. I feel like I’ve been though a pretty decent amount of obstacles lol, so if you have any questions feel free to ask me.

Also, if their are any h.s seniors reading this and deciding whether or not to do the CAP Program if they are offered it, I suggest you do it! It would’ve saved me a lot of stress, but taking the tougher route has made me a stronger person, and I appreciate this a lot because of the time it took to get here.

Don’t ever ever give up if you really want it!

OneLove28: I will be appealing this semester because I got denied. I made a 4.0 this semester so my gap is around a 3.41. I applied to COLA international relations. 3 excellent essays with a excellent resume. A lot of community service hours and leadership roles.
The only thing I’m worried about is that I will send in my official transcript in by Dec. 18th but UT goes on vacation on the 20th and don’t come back till Jan. 2nd. I probably wont find out the decision until a week before school starts in January… How did your appeal process go?

Alright, I am very nervous because i have not technically turned in all of my credits yet because this semester will mark my 30 credits.
By the end of this semester I should have a 3.1, But what I am asking is that since I could not get into my intended major until next fall, what would be my chances since I applied now as an undecided with a gpa of a 3.1 as a sophomore?
I had, what I felt, were very well essays, and two recommendations from teachers I had grown to communicate well with in class at Nicholls State.
I am considered in state for Texas, since my family has been here for a year and i am under them still so i would be considered a state citizen.
I was 25% in my class rank, and my overall gpa was a 3.2 for my high school year
I was in colorguard, band, tennis, and gifted and talented art while it was still active.
I was also a member of Student Council, and track and field for a year.
ever since high school ended, i’ve literally worked multiple jobs to support myself
I went to Nicholls State University in Louisiana for one year
and now im at Lone Star to get 30 credits
I do want to originally major in Communications Disorders.
feedback please? I would greatly appreciate it, good or bad…

@LonghornNation24: i feel you, I would turn my offical transcript in at that time also…

Hello, if anyone can help me with this let me know. So I got accepted for Spring '14, my GPA from freshman year was 3.82. This past semester, I’ve been struggling with A LOT personally, and trying to work 20-30 hr weeks. My GPA is now going to be about 3.1 at best, and I may need to drop one of my classes late notice due to medical reasons. Things are complicated to say the least. I am hoping and praying they still let me in… I know in the acceptance letter it said that there’s still a chance I can be denied if I didn’t keep up my performance. However, I am a very good student, I just have been dealt a lot this semester. My thoughts were maybe I could call advising and speak with an advisor? Even if they put me on academic probation for the spring semester, I don’t care. I just want to stay at UT! I am so worried… Should I contact the academic advisor? I am a BS Psych major… should I call Psych advisor, COLA,…? Any suggestions would be so helpful. Also, on a different note, has anyone heard back on housing yet?

@sekrim: FYI, my cumulative GPA is 3.9, if you want to add it.

@LonghornNation24 Your stats sound good! Last year there was a forum like this for the Spring 2013 admission, and their were people who submitted their final transcripts in mid-December, and they were accepted in early January. So it is possible for you to be accepted in early January too.

For my appeal I chose the reason why I was appealing on my UTEID, then wrote a letter explaining my GPA improvement, and also talked about my extracurricular activities. I waited about 2 weeks until I got the message if my appeal was denied or approved. I saw that my appeal was approved, and at first I thought it meant that I was accepted into the University, but I called admissions and they said it meant that your application will go into review again, and then a decision will be made. I waited about a week after that, and then received the final decision.

Since your window of time will be smaller, I’m thinking you’ll get a decision much sooner than me though. I would get your appeal information together now and submit it on the same day you get your new transcript on Dec 18th.

Hey so I just got accepted as well.

I’m an out-of-state sophomore. GPA is only around 3.4 roughly. I really want to be in the Moody Communication school but they put me in UGS for now. I understand to get into the Comm school you need to take ADV 319j and send in an application for an internal transfer.

Does anyone know how difficult the Moody school is about letting people in? Like you make the required B grade in ADV 319j and submit a pretty decent application, will they still turn you away?

DeeGeeErbear, if you can answer this before I call fin aid, how do I get the second half of my yearly fin aid funds over to UT? UT processed my fin aid, but I did not see the Texas Grant on my “Financial aid shopping sheet.” I received the Texas Grant this Fall, and I am supposed to receive it again at my university if I continue here. UT is awarding me the Pell Grant. I am sure the Texas Grant should “transfer” over as well.

I have the same question as mathguy1000. I only received Federal Pell Grant offer. Is it all I can have? Because now I have a trouble with my cost at UT Austin

Cbfambaby: I’m in the Comm school and it’s pretty tough to get into. I got in with a 3.84 and all my other friends had 3.8 and above. They accepted only 200 students my year. And the class you’re referring to is intro to adv 318J and you have to pass with a B to be in adv as well as statistics. I’m switching to HR and am currently in the pr program

Mathguy: unfortunately I am not familiar with financial aid, I don’t have it! Sorry!!

Also, internal transfer to comm is hard. You have to petty much make an A in 318J, and take other comm classes with it along with a good resume. Join advertising clubs and PRSSA to show your interest in advertising, and then you should have a good chance of getting into advertising
