@mexusa By any chance do you know if that Is weighted or unweighted?
@thereddevils
Exeter had a surprise a year or so ago with a very high yield - many more than usual % of accepted kids came. This made for an unusually large prep class, lots of housing shuffling to make room for the unexpectedly large class, then they took fewer new kids into the following year’s class to even out class sizes.
following year’s lower class (10th graders), to clarify post 21
@ajsmiles12 the GPA is unweighted.
I have around a 3.91 unweighted GPA for all three years of middle school, so I’m glad to hear that I wasn’t below the average. Thank you for the info! @mexusa
I must get my grades up. My GPA this year is :-?? :-S >:P
@mathman1201 Your GPA is not what’s keeping you out.
Cate acceptance rate as of last week was “just under 14%”.
Sheesh! Yeah, don’t apply to Cate and think of it as widening your net.
A few Loomis stats. Over 2000 applicants (for all grades). 15 spaces each for 10th grade boarding boys/girls.
Still no info on Choate, aside from GPA.
Here is info on Choate: over 2000 applicants (highest ever), 20% acceptance (lowest ever is 19%), average GPA 3.81 (higher than in previous years).

I still have yet to find any “official” Loomis stats from the school. Maybe they don’t share them?
Milton’s apps are up 30%, and their acceptance rate is 18% this year.
Posted in The Exonian, Phillips Exeter, April 2, 2015 edition: “2,347 applicants completed the admissions process, and 446 students were accepted, making for an acceptance rate of just above 19 percent.” (http://theexonian.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/combine4.pdf). First page.
Also reposting: http://exeter.edu/news_and_events/news_events_17556.aspx, where there were (quoting sgopal2): “Exeter: 2340 applicants/307 spots.”
446 students were accepted for 307 spots, which means Exeter is expecting around a 68.8% yield (307/446).
An update (and congrats @Corcaigh kid!) - this year, 11% acceptance rate (12% if you include faculty children). The yield was 86%, highest in school’s history. Yield on 9th grade boys was 92%!
Nice comments from an alum / teacher…

Milton’s admission rate this year is slightly less than 12% (heard directly from both the head master and admission officer). They have 1100 applicants just for boarding alone, and same # for day student applicants. If you think of some of the day student slot goes to K9 students, making true day student acceptance rate even lower!
actually, latest from the school - 2015 acceptance rate is slightly less than 12%, i.e., they have roughly 2000 appliants for 250 spots
Where are you seeing these stats @hkdad123 ? The acceptance letter mentioned there were 1400 applicants this year. Also there are only 145-150 spots (9th-12th). They extend offer to ~250 considering the yield.
Also: 150 x 4 amounts to 600 students. But according to the Milton website, there are 695 students enrolled in the Upper School. Where do those extra 23 students a year come from? I’m still very confused. Am I thinking about this in the wrong way?
@ApreVerite these numbers are not as straightforward. I will make an attempt here, hopefully will be of some use. Milton is a k-12 school… so around 40 - 45 kids are coming from 8th grade itself. The total number of open spots is around 145 -150 which is including spots from 9th to 12th grade. Not all 145 spots are for 9th grade. Out of these 145-150 spots, around 135 spots for 9th graders (90 for boarding and 45 for day students). You are correct about total # of students 695 but it is not equally divided among 4 grades. For example, in 2014 graduating class had 181 students. So not necessarily 9th grade will have 695/4 kids… it will be somewhere around that number IMO.
So to back up a bit and summarize, there are total 145 spots, offers are extended to ~250 keeping yield in mind and this year there were 1400 applicants. This data is inclusive of all grades from 9th to 12th not just 9th.
I hope I made it somewhat clearer.
