2015 Application Questions, Comments, and Support

@fullload‌ How are you planning to complete 63 units by spring 2015 if you’ve only completed 21 so far and only taking 15 units now? That leaves 27 more units you have to complete by the end of spring 2015. And also, from my understanding you have to have at least 30 units complete before you can even submit a UC application.

I haven’t seen any minimum unit completion required to submit an application. So I do believe fullload can submit his app if he wanted to.

I think you need at least 30 units to apply. I could be wrong, though.

I actually have 33, but 12 of those are CSU transferable, not UC.

plus:

16 - fall
11 - winter
15 - spring

= 63 units by end of spring, all igetc and major prereqs complete.

Hold the presses! I just found out 3 communications courses I took in the 90’s are UC transferable! That puts me at 31 transferable units. The only bummer is it drops my gpa to 3.7, but that’s still well over the average accepted last year into the major I’m going for.

Man, you guys had me freaking out over the 30 units thing. That would have been devastating.

I think it is 30 to submit a TAG, but you can apply to UC with <30

This is my 2nd time applying as a transfer. Last year I applied as an Anthro major and I was set to attend UCSC this fall but I got a D in my statistics class, so they cancelled my admission. Another year at SMC taking stats again, but thankfully doing way better. I’m a tiny bit lazy knowing I have to do the whole process all over again, but at least this time my anxiety is nothing like last year! I lurk mostly since I’m a shy person, but I just wanted to say hi and good luck to everyone applying this month!

Welcome!

Application sent!

It’s weird but just clicking submit was exhilarating. I didn’t expect that. :)

So when the times comes in a few months, how do they notify us, online or by snail mail?

I believe they will send you an email to set up a portal, and then you check the portal on the big day!!

Then if accepted, they snail mail you a packet :)

say WHEN accepted, not if. We’re all going to get in. We’ve got this.

Last year we all kept checking our portals repeatedly once April came. UCLA actually had a “press release” of sorts the afternoon that transfer decisions were set to be released. Then about 5pm decisions were released and the portal was so busy it took what felt like forever to get in- in reality maybe 3-4 minutes. Ucla released all decisions at the same time/ day. It was several hours later that I got an email to check my portal for a decision.

Other schools rolled out decisions over several days/ couple of weeks. Typically acceptances came out first, then waves of denials came out.

Usually within a few days/ weeks, you’ll receive pretty acceptance packages in the postal mail.

WHEN we are all accepted, I will buy Bear87 an apology cookie

That’s the spirit, @Bear87 and @luckie1367!

For anyone interested in Berkeley, this has been fun to look at!

Anyone currently watching the Berkeley webinar? :)

YES

@luckie1367‌ OMG! Did you hear her dog barking during the video?

No, I didn’t have sound the entire time!!!

Oh, that sucks! As they mentioned, much of what was covered can be found online; so, you probably didn’t miss anything too important.

Her dog was barking during the early middle of the webinar. I thought it was my dog at first.
