@lafcadio I emailed a UCR counselor in the spring asking about that because my GPA was just under the mark as well, and they told me that I had to have the exact GPA or better by the end of summer. It may be different for UCI but definitely email them. They tend to be quick to reply, and if you don’t hear back then I say apply anyways. It’s free and if it’s denied then you can just opt for regular admission in November.

“Apply anyway” is true to a point. If you have an alternate UC you can definitely meet TAG req’s for you should use your tag for that. You only get one. Don’t knowingly waste it on one you aren’t eligible for.

If i were you, i’d tag to a different school.

Since the TAG deadline is today, I figured I’d bump and ask a question.

How do they tell you the status of your TAG? Do you log into the planner one day in November and it says accepted, do they email you the result, is there a specific day we should check? I can’t find anything/

Yes, log in to the UCTAP for TAG status starting in November. Last year some received an email in mid-November to let you know to log in to check your TAG status. It does not give you a result since they want to review your application. Some were TAG denials with the suggestion to still apply in November. Of course you don’t know your acceptance until the Spring.

@luckie1367 definitely ask a transfer counselor at your current campus! i asked mine and she rattled off different dates for different campus’ so hopefully yours can give you the info as well. the only one i remember is ucr which is nov 7th!

You can check this thread to see when people start hearing decisions from different campuses.

<a href=“Anyone's TAG get approved yet? Oct 15 is earliest date right?? - UC Transfers - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/1014772-anyones-tag-get-approved-yet-oct-15-is-earliest-date-right-p1.html

Let say i get a W for one of my pre-reqs course (CIS 5) for Fall 2014. will that impact my TAG decision? I tagged to UCD as a communications major. Since communications is not impacted this year will i be safe? I still don’t get why communications major at UCD have to take CIS 5. It is complete BS, binary, gates, pep8, python, etc are confusing the crap out of me. I’ll have 5/6 of my pre-reqs done by spring 2015. Thanks

@LilBoosie what is the name of CIS 5 and/or what CC are you attending? Will you have 60 units by the end of Spring without that class?

Thanks everyone!

@Happy2Help Intro to computer science, attending Laney College. I’ll have 61units by spring 2015

@LilBoosie I see Laney is part of the Peralta CCD and at the other 3 CCs, they take either CIS 1 OR CIS 5 for UCD’s ENG CS 15. From my experience this means Laney’s transfer articulation counselor did not report CIS 1 as an acceptable alternate articulation to UCD’s ENG CS 15 when the other CCs had done so. This can be fixed by reporting this to the transfer articulation counselor ASAP and ask the counselor to have this entered into ASSIST ASAP to assist in your TAG and eventual application, and even backdated to the same time CIS 1 was entered into ASSIST by the other CCs. Then you can take CIS 1 which is an introductory class that is more in line with ENG CS 15. There is no guarantee that this will be put into ASSIST in time for the TAG review. I was told, if it helps a student to backdate and correct an error in ASSIST, they would gladly do so.

If you decide to drop CIS 5 with a W, it should not impact your TAG as long as you already have 30 UC transferable units by the end of Summer 2014, with plans to complete at least 30 more UC transferable units that include IGETC/UCD GE and major prereqs by the end of Spring 2015. Good luck!

so I went to a workshop for TAG in September but unfortunately me and more girls were not eligible for TAG since we still needed to take a math course prior to FALL and we will be completing it in Spring. I will be applying as regular admission. I have a signed contract for UCSD university link and was wondering if I needed to take math prior to FALL as well. I can’t seem to be able to find the information.

@Hiitsnaomi it looks like according to UniversityLink, you must complete math in the Fall prior to the next Fall UCSD enrollment. if you complete it in the Spring, you are not eligible for Fall 2015 admission through UniversityLink.

You CAN complete math in the Spring 2015 under regular transfer requirements. Be aware you will have a provisional contract to, among other things, complete your Spring courses for a total of 60 semester UC transferable units. Good luck.

Thank you my contract didn’t state it but I had the feeling I needed it. I am nervous since I don’t have any guarantee but I hope I get accepted to UCR. Worst case scenario I will stay 1 more yr at cc

Bumping since the App is due in about 45 days! How is it going for everyone?

Doing well.

I dropped 2 courses this semester with W’s but I am replacing most of the units with Late start courses. I will have exactly 60 units in spring along with both of my english courses and math courses done.
Major: Mathematics
Current GPA: 3.16
Major Prep: All in terms of math, will be missing physics
Intended places to apply: UCR, UCSC, UCSB, UCI

Chance me anyone?

No Ec’s except back in high school I used to help a math club at the junior high. Though I have no proof of this.

anyone already submitted UC application?

Not yet, still waiting on a couple of reviewers to get back to me.

Just as an FYI, from the website, “The application will be down temporarily Thursday, November 6 from 8am-9am PST. We are sorry for the inconvenience.”

Just about ready to submit. Feeling good but worried that I don’t have enough actual grades listed to be competitive for UCLA. I have a 4.0, but it’s only 21 units completed. By the end of Spring I will have 63, but I’m just hoping they don’t sweat the lack of completed courses. I’m taking 15 units this Fall and have A’s in all of them, so hopefully when we update our apps, they take those into consideration.

That and about 12Ws from years ago when I first tried going back to school.

Those are my two big concerns. Everything else is golden. Tons of EC’s and a solid essay.
