2015 UCLA TAP Scholarship Thread

Since these decisions might be coming out any day now, I figured it deserved its own thread!

So, who’s applied and what are your thoughts?

Timeline can be found here: http://www.ugeducation.ucla.edu/tap/scholarship.htm

Good luck to everyone! I hope we all get it [-O<

You scared me! :((

Oh no! I"m sorry!

I honestly didn’t mean to, I was just thinking about it and thought it should be its own thread instead of hijacking the 2015 UCLA thread…

Sorry @-)

I applied! Not expecting anything, although it would be really nice to not accumulate debt this year.

This wait is UGH.

My stomach flips over every time I get an email… anybody want to guess when?

My money is on next Friday. I think they’ll notify winners and losers at the same time.

Judging by past years, they sent out emails a few days before their “date.” I’m thinking we’ll be notified on Monday.

I really hope emails go out when they open at 12 today. :frowning:

You gave me a heart attack @LuckyName lol,

Heres hoping!!!

Good! Payback for the other day! Haha >:)

Just got rejected :frowning:

Hey everyone! The scholarship office had something really funky happen this year. On the 28th, I got an email saying I was not a recipient, and today I got another email congratulating me on earning the scholarship with some attachments for writing a thank you note. I called the office to see which was correct, and it turns out that the finalists were sent rejection emails by accident and that I had, in fact, received the scholarship. If you got rejected, you should check your email again or call the office. They were exceptionally helpful!

Congrats @District !

@LuckyName had the same thing happen to him.

WOW.
Congrats @district! What exactly does it mean, attachments to write thank you notes?

@lindyk8 Thank you! One of the stipulations of the scholarship is that you must write a thank you letter to the donor who contributed the funding. The attachment is simply a guide to what to include in that letter — formatting primarily, but there are some tips on what to include regarding your career goals and future aspirations and whatnot. It seems like the intent of the letter is to let the donor know who you are beyond the cursory, “I’m a junior and a psych major”.

Just for future reference, only 17 of the 200 applicants were chosen to receive the scholarship this year.

Thank you Vincent L. Wang
