I have a question about the scholarship money. Anything extra beyond the $2k/year is based on EFC from FAFSA right? I think my EFC would be ~$7k/year and my parents make <$85k/year. So in theory UCLA would cover the remaining tuition after EFC + $2k? I’m assuming room and board isn’t included? OOS if that makes a difference.
I didn’t think they gave much aid to OOS. Is this something new?
@Revofev I am also unsure what is covered. What exactly is the need they cover?
@lindyk8 @Stevieindb Well I’m just talking about Regents. It says they cover $2000 minimum, up to full tuition/ride based on the Regent Scholar’s need. I doubt the Regents aid to OOS would be less, but perhaps the chance of an OOS student getting Regents would be less.
The $2000 is the base everyone gets whether you need aid or not. From there they might add more aid to FAFSA-qualified.
Thanks for the clarification.
Since the Regent’s Scholarship covers cost of tuition up until your EFC, is there any point in applying for more scholarships? I was thinking about finishing the TAP scholarship…
Say what? is that correct? ^^^^^^
@stevieindb Hmm, I see that all right. Would you post here how it turns out? I always thought they usually leave you with some loans. I’m curious to see what happens. Good luck!
@lindyk8 Well, they paid up until my EFC. My net cost is my EFC now. I still have the option to pay the net cost with a federal direct unsubsidized loan.
Oh, OK, I get it @Stevieindb. Thanks!
