2015er.....chances for UCLA?

On different forums, I heard many different opinions toward UCLA.
Some said it not hard to get except certain majors;
some said it's very competitive.

I am a fob who came to U.S to freshmen year, so although my GPA
is ok, my SAT and ACT simply screwed me all over.

Here are my status:
(I am a in-coming Senior)
U.S Citizen (recently naturalized :D)
in-state student of CA

GPA: unweighted:3.93 weighted:4.36
Rank: top5% of the class (actually top4%, i am in the ELC)
ACT:28 (SAT is too low that i don't even want to mention it)
APs: Chemistry, Biology, Statisitcs, Calc AB, Calc BC, Chinese (:D).
going to take senior year: U.S Governent, Computer Science, Art History, Environmental Science.

extracurricualr:
Volunteer in a local hospital (more than 100 hours)
Volunterr for a Austism association (more than 100 hours)
Taiwanese Club President
Partipate in several major Autism events (received recognition for them)

Am I a solid candidate for UCLA biochemistry?
Or UCI pre-med?

Does my background as a fourth-year student in U.S help?

thx a lot for reading.

First of all, it’s competitive no matter what major you’re interested in.

And I’d say you’re in good shape for UCI pre-med.

ELC guarantees (officially) admission to UC Irvine for all non-Engineering majors, so that is a safety for you. Are you going to have a chance to take the ACT/SAT again? If you could improve your score you would have a much better chance at UCLA, but it’s definitely a reach right now.

It’s a reach. You need to raise that ACT, and don’t neglect the SAT IIs!
