I just called UCLA and the person I spoke to said, “How did you get that 9 digit number?” I walked him through what I did and he said as far as he knows, the 9 digit number would not be given out unless the person was accepted. He said it looks like I found a loophole in the system.

He was very confident that this number would not be handed out unless the person is considered a student.

My daughter has had an account since the 3rd week in January and I’m 95% sure the ID was assigned then. That would have been before any decision was made.

In order to find out if this loophole is real we need to find someone that followed rwscpa intructions exactly at the beginning of the thread and did NOT get a nine digit id number. (ours starts with 804). It may mean nothing but it helps pass the time in this incredibly stressful day!!

Typical, horribly designed URSA. Definitely the worst UCLA website, which is saying a lot. It seems weird that that person said you were in. I’m pretty sure admin isn’t allowed to say anything like that, but maybe it was a student employee who didn’t know what they were doing.

I found this on the Graduate admissions page so i think its assigned to all apllicants:

After you submit your application, an email acknowledging the submission of your application will be sent to you within 72 hours. This email will include your nine-digit UCLA ID number and will be sent from gradapp@mvs.ais.ucla.edu. Be sure to clear this address in your address book/filter to avoid its being redirected as spam.

No advice or info, but last year there was a loophole in UCB portal, and students could see their assigned ID about a week before the decisions came out. There was a thread of nervous applicants on CC. The loophole was plugged a couple of days before the then D-day, March 24.
As it turned out is was indeed a clear indication of admission. UCB has not made that mistake again.
Good luck to all of you. It will be over very soon.

Is it only me or I was not able to create the account?. After I chose my username/password and all, it said “An account will be created for you” or something like that. Then it logged me out and when I click on “Manage UCLA logon ID”, I have to relog in… with the ID that I don’t have.

Perhaps they repaired the loophole?
Or perhaps I just didn’t get accepted!
