Since the finalists will be announced in just under two weeks, I thought it would be fitting to make a thread for it. Has anyone heard from Prudential?
Good luck fam
Thank you for posting . I was wondering how the Sate finalist are notified and do they typically find out before its announced online. Does anyone know how many youth applied for the award this year or last year ?
I don’t know an exact number, but at least several thousand, if not over 10k or greater. They recognize almost 1k students alone, so (not with scholarship money – about 500 get certificates, 200 get a medal and the presidential service award if eligible, top ~102 get all of the above and the trip/scholarship money).
Has anyone gotten an email or letter?
No not yet I guess if you are selected as an honorary you should receive something in the mail this weekend from what I herd. I hope I am wrong and we find out Tuesday morning.
We received notification today.
Maybe it depends upon your state though?
@tad322 how were you notified?
My son found Out this morning that he was one of the Distinguished Finalist in IL. We were both happy surprised.
Congrats! All honorees get great press. Be sure to look out for your medal; it’s (somewhat inconveniently) sent to the principal you listed – some schools are less willing to part with the medal than others (I had to beg for mine – even though it does belong to the student according to Prudential).
@CourtneyThurston my daughter is also a distinguished finalist in our state. So she got a medal but no scholarship. She is a candidate for some very competitive scholarships at severals schools she applied to. Is this award worth mentioning to the schools in an email? or is it only worth mentioning if you are the winner in your state?
I got several letters from congresspeople for becoming a distinguished finalist (so did everyone else). I would say it’s noteworthy enough to update colleges on.
Good luck @Themommymommy
thanks! @CourtneyThurston
Anyone get anymore notifications? I still haven’t received a letter or email of rejection or winning.
The names have been public online for a while now. You should just go look and see if your name is online.
@CourtneyThurston Are we supposed to receive any email or letter saying we are rejected? My name isn’t on the list and I haven’t got any notice or emails ever since I submitted the application. I feel like my principal forgot to do the confirmation request.
Hello!
So I have kind of a rocky relationship with my principal and I’m concerned that she may have never certified my application for this. Was I supposed to receive an email that my application was certified? Did anyone get a rejection letter?
