2017-2018 Combined Plan Acceptances/Waitlists/Rejections

The Analysis course is part of the “major specific coursework” so I think it may exclude you from the guaranteed admission. I’m not sure though, best to ask your liaison at school or email Columbia.

@5am6996 isn’t the “major specific coursework” referring to the coursework required for applying to a certain Columbia major? (Like comp sci, operations research, etc.). I don’t think analysis is a prerequisite for any specific major.

Unless I’m misinterpreting what “major specific coursework” is referring to.

Hey guys, I’m accepted too. Did anybody received a required summer session on their academic form?

@sparkswillow97:

So when living costs are factored in, costs will be about the same for the WashU Bachelor’s+Master’s and Columbia Bachelor’s.

So I say let it come down to fit. A Master’s in engineering really isn’t required if you want to work in industry. I’d recommend one only for an undergrad who was a science major (or other related but non-engineeringmajor major) or who wants the name/opportunities of the Master’s program.

Hey just a heads up for anyone in the future thats frantically looking for information about the how you fare if you dont meet all of the requirements (also a general timeline of decision dates),
I applied to columbia with every requirement met EXCEPT I recieved a C in chemistry 1 ( there are a number of prerequisite science and math courses where you need a B or higher). Additionally, I had a 3.45 gpa majoring in physics.
On april 5th I recieved an email that I would recieve my decision on friday april 7th (from the research ive done while waiting for my decision, I believe they always release decisions at the end of the first week of april). That friday I was told I was put on the waitlist, and would recieve my final decision no earlier than june 1st and no later than june 30th. Despite that, on may 4th I recieved an email from someone who helps run the program, informing me that the class remained full and therefore I was taken off the waitlist. I emailed back in the hopes that they might keep me in until june to see if something might change, but never heard back.
In summary, if you dont meet all the requirements (this is probably the last thing you wanna read) your chances are pretty slim. Apply either way though, ya never know. Good luck.

Hey guys can I totally trust our liaison? He said that I met all requirements for guaranteed admission.

hello, I was wondering those who got waitlisted ended up getting in to the program?
