@ivcstudent Not sure why you would want to put in a double deposit? You could always rescind your intent to register from a University if you get into a different one you would prefer to attend…
I know that we all know this already, but it is worth repeating that where you go to school does not determine your future nor is it a reflection on your intelligence, worth, and character as a person. The fact that we are even applying means that we are the vast minority of students okay with failing if it means there is a chance of success, and the lessons we will learn through this process and high risk endeavors of the future are invaluable. Best of luck to you all, never stop trying.
@GoldenState1 congrats on getting into Cal! Everyone that I know who went there loved it and said it changed their life.
Good luck to everyone, I’m excited for you all!
@mjr2013 Thank you! and thank you for coming back and helping everybody here out!
@greatestimpetus Thank you!! I am super excited to be attending Cal! it was my #1 realistic choice and Stanford is my #1 reach, so either way, I feel like I’m winning! I’m glad to hear about your friend. I feel like either will be a great experience! Good luck tomorrow!

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! I cannot believe it is tomorrow!
Is Stanford truly need-blind?
@illiniBoyi yes, they have so much money that the admissions and financial aid people do not make the decisions together. What most schools will do is have admissions do their thing and if accounting says they are over budget based on what the college promises students in terms of FinAid, then they take off their least favorites until it is suitable. Quite sad but Stanford does not have that problem.
Regarding FA, some of the veterans this year went to an Ivy-level conference for veterans in school. The other schools reps (pretty much all Ivy students) were stunned at how much Stanford gave its undergrads.
If you’re under 24 and your parents make less than $125,000, you are going to attend tuition free. Under $65,000, you are going to attend tuition AND board free. If you’re 24+, it goes off of your income not your parents.
FWIW, more transfers than not I’ve spoken to are on substantial financial aid.
@mjr2013 Thanks for the info. USC and Cal gave me some incredible financial aid, so this puts me at ease that if I am accepted I will most likely also have great aid at Stanford as well.
I’ve just re-read my entire application. Despite using the phrase “fuc**d up” once, and mentioning that I was deported from Mexico (while working on a music video ) during one of the summers, I feel pretty strong about my application. Interestingly enough, at this point, I really do think that I have a real shot.
Is anyone else re-reading their application? lol
@Imoulse100 lol. You didn’t hold back. I appreciate your flair for the dramatic. Lol.
I wrote “I was pissed.” in my application. There really was something about the chance of being accepted next to zero that gave me a lot of courage to really go for it on my app. I was happy with every word.
So far I’ve gotten into every school I applied, including Cal and UCLA using the same method. Lol all I know is if I get rejected I want my physical copy in the mail so I can put it in my scrapbook.
I’m ready for my Stanford rejection. Getting used to them after UCLA, Harvard, Yale, Princeton and Duke lol
@GoldenState1 same. I’ve tried not to get my hopes up. We’ve done all we can
@GoldenState1 haha I feel you! I haven’t had a single acceptance so far. Did Yale release decisions?? I thought it’s tomorrow
@GoldenState1 you heard back from Yale already?
I’m just excited to find out whether I got in or not— either way will mean I get to move forward.
is it coming out today for sure?
