2018 Stanford Transfer Thread

Out of all admissions decisions, I am definitely most nervous about this one. I don’t know why. I know its a long shot for just about every one but it would be such an incredible feeling to actually get in. Good luck to everyone here as I know you’ve all given this application everything you’ve got.

@standreaming I also only applied to Stanford. I’m already at a great engineering school, but I want to transfer home to the Bay Area for family reasons and Berkeley admissions told me their engineering department would not accept a student from a four-year university.

@lemfn64 do you mind sharing the link where you read this?

@greatestimpetus @notgonnagetin do you guys think applying to one school would give you an edge?

@illiniBoyi Can’t find that page exactly, but May 9th is the date listed on the transfer deadlines page

https://admission.stanford.edu/apply/deadlines/index.html

Lol, I swear I saw the date being 15th just a couple of days ago. Guess they might have updated it. Anyways, thanks buddy! @socal77

@illiniBoyi It’s on the front page of apply.stanford.edu

@standreaming I would imagine there is little to no edge. If there were any edge, it would probably come from the underlying reasons we applied to only one school, not solely from the fact that we applied to only one school.

I’m so glad we only have 2 days of waiting left. I’m honestly ready to be disappointed and move on. Two percent is a terrifying acceptance rate.

Oooo, that’s awesome! They definitely updated that page with that information, because I recall seeing “May 15th” there or something close to that date. This is so exciting… I knew this week would be insane: tomorrow Princeton and Duke, the next day Stanford… The top of this rollercoaster is here <3

@notgonnagetin May I ask which school you currently attend? You said you are already at a great engineering school, and you may feel the same but I’m more worried seeing how Stanford seems to prefer veterans and non-traditional students. Do you know anyone who has gotten in from a school of similar caliber?

@standreaming I’m at Cal Poly SLO. I read on a previous thread that a few students got in from Ivies, but I think you’re spot on about preference for veterans and non-trads. Vets definitely deserve it after what they’ve done for our country though. Are you at a four-year as well?

@notgonnagetin I wholeheartedly agree on the part that the veterans definitely deserve it. Yeah I’m at a four-year school. I just wish there were more spots available for traditional students haha

This news is simultaneously scary and exciting… Well hopefully someone from this thread will get accepted.
Good luck everybody

Yeah I would be surprised if no one gets accepted as there are so many impressive/inspiring people here! Here’s to 43 hours of waiting.

I hope someone gets accepted from this thread!!

Does anyone know the average number of students they admit?

@standreaming I think that applying to only one school gives could give you an advantage if they want someone who genuinely loves the school. On the other hand Stanford plans for many students to not matriculate so if they know you aren’t applying elsewhere you had better leave all your cards on the table so to speak otherwise they may go with someone that applied to other places.

@johonmilla as @GoldenState1 pointed out earlier, they accept 20-40 transfer students depending on the open slots that year

One day to go. I already SIR to Cal, but it might turn into a donation if I get admitted to Stanford (Unlikely) lol

@GoldenState1 Can we do double deposit? I heard some rumor that we shouldn’t do double deposit because they might rescind acceptances.
