@CADREAMIN Thank you for clearing things up. I made the following adjustment to my post:
Rising sophomores who have applied to USC in high school with good stats: most likely will not get an SGR- acceptance or rejection

@CADREAMIN Thanks I appreciate everything you do
@CADREAMIN Your comments made me feel a little bit more confident, as I got “A” in all transferable business related classes (Financial Accounting, Business Calculus, Business Statistics, Organizational Behavior) that I took except for a “B+” in Macroeconomics. USC needs Micro and Macro for Business anyways, so I will have to take the Business version for Micro and Macro if admitted.
I have a 3.8 from a top university in CA, am TTP with legacy, have done all the classes that my counselor and I agreed upon, and still got a SGR. Glowing rec letter and extracurriculars. Thoughts? I’m at a loss here.
“Remember, USC turns away about 4,000 4.0+ with 99 percentile test score applicants, so if those re-apply as a transfer (again, with or without TTP) they won’t request and SGR”
I’m confused about this part. Does this mean that applicants with 4.0 gpa are more likely to get rejected?
@ttpusclover Are you from Pepperdine or one of the UC schools?
USC’s 2018 Fall transfer admits had an average GPA of 3.74, so your 3.8 is just slightly above average.
I am assuming you are taking a major prereq this semester/quarter, or your recommendation letters and essays are not as strong as you thought.
Again, being a top applicant needs more than good grades.
@PokeBear No, he is simply saying that USC’s incoming freshman application pool is very competitive, as they turned out a lot of qualified applicants.
Otherwise, they would accept thousands of applicants who meet the grade requirement.
Ohh Okay! Thanks for your explanation
@sagaciousforever that is the best you can do! Good luck!
@ttpusclover what major are you applying to? You will be fine, but they have a bad habit of making people wait. Also, not all schools have the same criteria and timetables.
@PokeBear that comment was relative to SGR requests. Sometimes they may not need them because they have a lot of data on applicants that previously applied. Frankly, some stellar applicants are rejected for no other reason than they have too many stellar applicants in the freshman applicant pool and in particular majors/schools. So if that stellar applicant applies again, USC may simply be happy to have the chance to admit them this time around since they didn’t have room for them the first time. Thus, they don’t have to prove themselves as much as others.
I am taking a prerequisite this semester, but my counselor originally told me this would not be a problem and that it would not be the cause for spring grades.
@ttpusclover, I think @ CADREAMIN nailed it in post #1280. Maybe they’re just looking for something specific in regards to your performance for a prerequisite.
Also, I am from one of the top two UC schools. (wanna remain somewhat anonymous)
I got in undecided as a sophomore applicant
@ttpusclover I’m on the same page as you. I have a 4.0 GPA from a CC in California, a sophomore transfer, an TTP (non-legacy), and have taken all pre-req for my major and completed almost all GE’s with a good letter of rec + a bunch of extra-curricular from High School and still got an SGR.
We got this (I say as I doubt that for myself HAHA) @Trojan4u1001
@ttpusclover If you are applying for Marshall, I guess that you are from UCB. If you are applying for other schools, I guess that you are from UCLA.
Anyways, no worries for not pointing it out. Feel free to address which school you go when USC accepts you!
By the way, I am a rising junior from Pepperdine.
Best of luck!
To all those with questions regarding enrollment commitment. The acceptance letter indicates that you must commit by June 1, 2019 or within two weeks of receiving your offer of admission, whichever is later.
@TeriYaki1 Thank you!
@ttpusclover I’m glad I’m not alone LOL
Thank you @TeriYaki1 ! I had two weeks and a date in my mind, so I guess I sorta had it.
