@Halofax Thanks. I’ll still do it in the winter to get it out of the way so I could make room for GEs and Business Calc (Which I’ll still take just to stay up to date, but thanks for the info, I’ll send the scores).
@jj1999 I’m also from PCC, lol. I’m surprised you didn’t place in BUS 14B because this Freshman is doing the TTP also and he’s in my BUS 14B class, and he didn’t take BUS 14A.
@woshua Yeah I didn’t send my AP Scores or anything. It’s fine though cause my AP Calc score gets credit for the Marshall pre req
Hey guys, so I’m trying to specialize my extracurriculars because I’m trying to transfer to Emory/Cornell/USC for the Fall 2019 Semester
So far I’m in
AED (not initiated yet but will be)
WISE (A club geared towards women in STEM)
Hall Crew (It’s a club where we put on activities for dorms)
I’m also a Desk Assistant (Work-study)
Japanese Club (I’m not sure if I will continue this ).
None of these are very time to consume though
I’m looking into trying to mentor kids that are in situations where college doesn’t seem like a reality because I come from the same background.
I’m also trying to get into research next semester/ or tutoring Biology
Are these pretty good? I know I should specialize in extracurriculars and make it pertain to the field I want to enter but I don’t know if this is good enough
Does anyone have any input on where I can search for extracurriculars related to STEM that are feasible for a Freshman college student?
Thank you!
Hey guys, I have a question! I’m going to be applying to transfer to USC from a CCC. If I don’t have 1 or 2 classes on their recommended General Education plan, would I be flat out rejected, or could they still accept me and then just allow those classes to be taken at USC? For instance, if I’m missing a math or a science with a lab, would that lower my chances? Thanks in advance
Just a question. Do the 30 units all have to be transferrable? 3 of them aren’t, and 8 of them have to be reviewed to get credit. I don’t want them looking at my high school record. They just want you to have 30 units period, right?
@Needmoreec Research is great, because that will boost your resume, regardless where you’re going. I would recommend try aim leadership/ e board in those clubs. Honestly and sadly, i don’t think extracurriculum weigh much in transfer admission. But good materials for your essays and show your passion. Good luck
@gillianes123 I don’t think that means a flat-out rejection. As long meet the writing requirement and math requirement, you’d be considered. Those courses are recommended after all. Just my interpretations, anyone correct me if i’m wrong about it.
Hey everyone, I am a sophomore transfer this year from a CC. I am switching my major to Computer Science at the moment. Since midterms are killing me, I am gonna procrastinate and hang out here. Feel free to tag me/ DM me. I feel your stress.
@clairen CS midterms were always so late in the day I would usually cram in some last-minute “studying” in Leavey before the exam and often found myself here lurking on CC when I needed a break.
Is it a bad idea to stop at taking 6 of the 8 transferable GE’s since you know you’ll have to complete 2 at USC? I need to take 3 more credits and I’m not sure if its worth it to fulfill the last 2. Will it look bad if you only have 6/8 instead of 7/8?
If I get offered an internship for the summer, is there some way I include it in my Common App? The “Experiences” tab in the Common App doesn’t let you put future dates, but I’m sure it would be useful information right?
There is an additional information section at end of app - you could put it there.
Do the 30 units you take freshman year have to be transferrable? Some of mine don’t get credit at USC (Im taking it to get priority registration).
I have a question about the common app essay question. Am I allow to write about USC on the common app question? USC is the only school I’m applying that utilizes the common app.
@jj1999 how do you get priorty registration at USC?
@candylover132 I think he meant priority registration for his CC. I know at my CC, if you’re in the honors program then you’re given priority registration, but you have to take specific courses to get that priority (honor courses). I could be wrong about his comment, though.
I was talking about my CC
does anyone know how good of a financial aid transfers get from USC? Because my decision of attending USC (if I get in) will mainly focus on the financial aspect. Also do transfers also qualify for the full, half, quarter tuition scholarships that USC gives out to freshman? Like I know that they do it for freshman but do they also do it for transfers?
They have 40 scholarships for transfers for 1/4 which is 13k. That is it for merit, they do not qualify for the freshman scholarships. FA depends on your financial situation.
