I stopped reading this list when I saw that Harvard was listed above Caltech and MIT.
It really depends on the department your talking about. Broad strokes and general descriptions are pretty unreliable
Harvard #2? LOL! There are other inconsistencies (UIUC should be well in the top 10). Then again, I would not expect more from a British publication? I mean, they have Oxford as #1 globally for Engineering! Oxford! #1! Oxford is not even among the top 5 in Europe, with the likes of Ecole Polytechnique Paris, Ecole Nationale Superieure Paris, Ecole Polytechnique Geneve, ETH Zurich, Technical University of Munich, Imperial, Cambridge all considered better than Oxford.
Ah yes, the yearly reminder that no one should ever take Times Higher Education’s university rankings seriously.
England is very good in pure sciences and medicine. But it does not seem England is doing well in engineering.
Well, if anything, England likes the New England schools, an interesting expression of nepotism, lol.
