2022 Admissions Decisions

Accepted. Major: CS

My son was accepted to College of L&S. He applied to CS. Not sure if that’s an admit to CS or not?

Waitlisted
Econ Major
I hate everything right now…

@ZnoskoBorovsky The same thing happened with me. I have no idea if this means CS or not.

Probably gonna be a biased poll, I know I wouldn’t come to this thread if I got rejected. What’s it for anyways?

Accepted, International student, 3.2 GPA, 1260 SAT. School of Human Ecology.

@RejectsScholar1 same.

Whats the probability of getting off the waitlist? Is there any point to wait, i have already gotten into uwash seattle DA to engineering?

@applicant1308 and @ZnoskoBorovsky Computer Science department is within the College of Letters and Science. To declare the CS major, you have to take a CS course and get not lower than a C.

At SOAR (Summer Registration and Orientation), you will meet with advisors based on your identified academic focus who will help you select a fall semester course schedule .

Congrats to the newest batch of Badgers! Longtime parent poster with some thoughts about UW admissions – UW only looks at unweighted gpa, and for an OOS student, it typically looks for something around a 3.75 or so (though there will be exceptions). UW has only within the past couple years starting doing more direct admits into College of Engineering and College of Business, so there is less of a track record to see patterns about those direct admits.

The College of Letters and Science(L&S) is the largest College within the University, and home to majors as diverse as Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, Computer Science, Microbiology, Neuroscience, and the familiar Humanities and Social Science majors. At SOAR, students will meet with advisors over a two day period to plan their schedule and register for first semester classes, and the advisors will work with students to make sure they are taking the prerequisites for their preferred majors.

WOW , looks like CS is very Competitve this year , I got Waitlisted with a 1410 SAT for CS , but my peeps in high school got into Engineering with like 1300’s SAT . I guess pretty qualified ppl for CS. Can I request to change my major to maybe CE ie. College of Engineering or is it too late ? :frowning:

You were waitlisted for the university as a whole, regardless of your proposed major. Your competition for getting into UW was ALL applicants, regardless of proposed major. Some programs have direct admits and some get into UW without getting the major they want.

International student accepted to the College of Engineering (Chemical Engineering)

rejected 33 ACT 3.6 gpa.

I was accepted with a 3.55 UW GPA (Didn’t take any AP’s until senior year and a 30 ACT. Wanted direct admit to BBA program as I started my own online business that did 12k in sales the first year. Guess it wasn’t enough to let me in to the business school directly? Does anyone know when the financial aid packages are coming out and how difficult it is to transfer into the business school? Strongly considering SLU over Madtown at this point because SLU would cost about 10k a year and they have a #7 nationally ranked International Business program which I have already been accepted into.

People accepted in CMPE, please share your stats. (Just want to find out how lucky I got)

Also any internationals in CMPE??

@Madtownboy Based on UW-Madison holistic approach, you were accepted into the university. Your 3.5 UW gpa is a little low for admitted students but apparently they liked the fact that you started an online company. Looks like they gave you a pass to prove yourself by earning good grades to receive admission into the Wisconsin School of Business. I’m sure running a business is a lot of work but nothing should take place of getting good grades.

@Smilie1 you misread Madtownboy’s post, he was not directly admitted the the WSB.
