Not all AOs graduate from the uni they represent either.
There has been speculation that UChicago is done taking off the waitlist. What do you guys think?
^ Best to check with your admissions counselor.
I just emailed the admissions office so let’s see. Although I did ask about this to an officer last month and they said that they may start taking off the waitlist early May so maybe not. Also the final rejections were sent out May 6th in 2019 and May 4th 2018 and we haven’t heard anything about sending out rejections so that might also hint that they might wait a little longer. Corona is throwing everything off.
I guess we are still in the running! Cross your fingers!
Has anyone gotten a final rejection yet?
Are there even gonna be final rejections? Or is it more like they just don’t get back at you?
@Maren1234 They always send rejections when they stop considering an application. Rejected or not, we’re all going to receive an update from them eventually.
My counselor emailed a letter to the admissions officers last week and just got an email back today confirming that they put the letter in my file for review.
It’s likely that UChicago is keeping their waitlist open this year for a longer period of time so that they can take more students once their admitted students start deferring and taking a gap year.
Do you think they’ll release results next week?
Acceptance from the waitlist long after May 1 is a statistical anomaly, however, stats from previous years are irrelevant now for sure.
refreshes email every 5 minutes to see if there’s any update

Has anyone from the waitlist received a rejection?
nope @jzikaris
Our regional AO does respond very promptly - which is very refreshing. The rest of the schools just have auto-reply setup.
Alumnus and former AO here. Admissions personnel are well aware that the stakes and the stress are raised – a lot – after May 1st. Many on the WL have been forced to commit to their second choices and are contemplating whether they would break agreements and lose deposits with other universities if a late breaking offer from UChicago resulted in you or your student being taken off the WL. It happens every year, and the questions are generally the same. Don’t let this distract you from the the fact that in 1966, Al Bundy scored four touchdowns in a single game while playing for the Polk High School Panthers in the 1966 city championship game versus Andrew Johnson High School, including the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds against his old nemesis, Bubba “Spare Tire” Dixon.
Ha-ha! Al Bundy also says: “A Bundy never wins, but a Bundy never quits.”
We can’t see what the future holds for us, but we sure can keep striving towards our dreams.
Is it worthwhile to notify them that I have become the valedictorian of my class?
