Good luck to all of you! I've seen many of your Stats, and there is no question that you deserve to be at Stanford; you've worked incredibly hard, taken difficult classes, done tons of great things for your communities, and sound like really nice people. It will be wonderful if you are accepted, but don't take it personally if you don't get in. If you've read enough of these discussions you should know that it has little to do with you and more to do with numbers of applicants, where you are from, and whatever else Stanford is looking for to balance its class. You will be the same person tomorrow that you are today, so look forward to all your other wonderful options, and please don't lose sight of all you've accomplished!

Deferred. sorry to all those rejected, it's been an honor. You'll end up somewhere amazing.

Deferred... not happy/ not mad (on a plateau). I am sorry to all those who were rejected I truly hope you find an equally amazing school.

bump.
continue the thread for the surviving ones who are deferred.

Hey! I got deferred, and I've been hearing about sending a letter to the Admissions Office saying Stanford's "still my first choice", has anyone else done that?

Is it expected or advisable?

Oh man it's still tough, all this time later... good luck whatever!

I sent an email to my regional admissions rep. I posted about it in another topic, saying that I hadn't got a reply.

I got one today. He was very nice and not at all the stereotypical "I'm busing reading applications, your question is stupid, go away." However, I did notice that while he fully responded to the actual question I asked him, he didn't mention anything about the paragraph where I told him I was still very interested in Stanford and couldn't wait to attend. So the moral of this story is: if you actually have something good to say, such as a remarkable achievement that can't go on your update form, or a specialized question that might not be on a FAQ somewhere, then email them, and it can't hurt to mention that you still want to attend. However, don't bug your admissions rep with the clich

Thanks, man! I'll definitely keep that in mind, I appreciate it.

just visitin. how the folks are doing
