22% acceptance rate

Good lord… this is such semantics.
Wesleyan is highly selective, without a doubt, but you can’t tell that from a percentage alone anyway (Amherst’s admit rate is roughly double Harvard’s, but that doesn’t mean it’s that much less selective – it’s just a different pool of applicants).

USNews&World Report would call it “most selective.” But who cares? Applying to schools one wants to actually go to is the most important.

according to wesleying, there are over 660 registered members of the Class of 2013 on Facebook already.

That’s true, but some are current students and some have already decided not to attend. It’s for admitted students, not will-be-Wes students.

If it makes any difference, my SATs are all in the 750-800 range, I did attend Wesfest, and I will be going to Wes next year.

But that’s just one anecdotal piece of evidence haha. By the way, aren’t they looking to expand the class by something like 45 students this year? In that case 10 over last year’s class size wouldn’t be too many…

the other side to that is, at least according to the housing tour, something like 1/4 of freshman will be in triples next year. I forget the actual number.

about the facebook group: that’s the official wesadmits group, which is for people who were admitted, not necessarily people who plan to attend.

How could the admission of 30 more students create such a need for triples? That doesn’t sound right.

well, if Wes hits their 745 mark, the class of 2013 will only be 10-15 students larger than previous classes, as Wes has been over-enrolling the past few years. unfortunately, every single additional student above the current level will probably result in a triple because Wes is maxed out right now in terms of freshman housing. there is more flexibility in the upperclass housing (apartments and woodframe houses), but not much to play with in the frosh/soph housing. the triples will be in the butterfield dorms, which have massive doubles… so while it may be a little tight, it’s by no means unreasonable. Wes has already had triples the past few years…
