Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn., said it too received a response from accepted applicants at a rate similar to last year about 35 percent, or 760, said yes to Wesleyans offer for the class of 2013. Greg Pyke, senior associate dean of admissions at Wesleyan, said in an interview that he was surprised the economy had not really driven the yield down and he credited Wesleyans increasing of its financial aid offers as a factor, at least in part.

In anticipation of some economic hardship among applicants, Wesleyan had offered about 1,400 applicants a spot on the waiting list (about 200 more than last year). Just under 700 said they wished to be considered. Wesleyan expects about 5 to 6 percent of those on the list, or about 35 to 45, to be offered admission in the coming weeks which is about what it had anticipated, Mr. Pyke said.

I’ve been anxiously waiting as well :(.
Did you all send letters “expressing the strength of your interest” in Wesleyan?
I sent a letter and had my guidance send a few things.

I’ve been communicating with my area rep. and he said that they havn’t finished tallying the admitted students yet, so they don’t know whether or not they’re going to use the waitlist. They havn’t notified anyone yet, but he said they will start making phone calls by the end of the week.
