Right now, I am planning to only send my 35 ACT to Princeton. My dad tells me that there is no point in sending the 2300 because it isn’t as strong as my ACT. Should I send both scores, and is there any decisive advantage in doing so? Any input would be greatly appreciated!
Why not just put both? The SAT scores mostly by logic and ACT is more practical. A 2300 is literally 3 questions wrong. Your dad is probably worried about money maybe. Send both. A 2300 is the equivalent to a 35. Send both
Do you honestly think which one you send will matter at all?
I’d advise sending both, but I think your ACT is better. For schools that don’t look at writing, your SAT is slightly lower.
Thank you guys for the input. However, my biggest concern is that my CR score might hurt me during the application process. I’m afraid that the writing section of the SAT isn’t weighted as much as the other sections. Money isn’t a problem, but if I could save a few dollars by not sending a score that wouldn’t help that much, I would do so.
Also, I feel that sending my SAT wouldn’t do justice to my math abilities. The test I took had a curve of -1 = 770, so I was kind of bummed since I usually got 800s on my SAT practice exams. I’m planning on going into engineering, so a 770 may be harmful since I’m competing with the top students in the country.
Admissions officers know that a 770 is generally one wrong answer. My math guy who was in Linear Algebra, had a 5 on the BC Calc exam, and an 800 on the math 2 subject test, never managed an 800 on the SAT because he always made one careless mistake. At least one time it was a problem he could have done in fourth grade. Harvard still accepted him and so did SCS at Carnegie Mellon.
I’d send in both sets, but the ACT is good enough if you only want to send in one.
There is no reason to hide your SAT score although your ACT is better. Only if money is a concern that you may just send in ACT score, otherwise, I would send both.
