2340 in Oct and scheduled for the Nov SAT

You’re thinking of the “Score Range” feature. However, if this is applied across the three sections to yield a score of 2310, it certainly will not be evaluated as parallel to a 2400, particularly if applying to the nation’s top institutions.

Yea. I mean only in a limited sense. In my case I got a 800 on critical reading and got a 770 the second time; colleges probably won’t think it was weird-- score range explains this relatively small variation. If you drop like a hundred points, then there’s reason to wonder if the first time it was luck or something.

In my case, I had a bad experience with retaking the SAT. I took it first in Sophomore year and got a 2300. Heck, even my MOM got off my case for that score. Then some cousin in Massachusetts made a 2400, and suddenly my 2300 wasn’t good enough. I was forced to retake it, and I went down 100 points. I took it a final time and scored a 2320. Therefore from my biased point of view, retakes after 2300 has been achieved can go play in traffic. The stress, studying and anticipation isn’t worth it.
